Thursday — Carrie L. Reid, 38, of Brady Township was arraigned on felony and other charges for allegedly forging several checks that she stole earlier this year from her mother’s home in Center Township.
Reid’s mother notified police May 14 after discovering the theft and forgery. She suspected her daughter, according to court documents. Police later reviewed video surveillance that showed Reid in April using four of her mother’s checks at the Giant Eagle store in Slippery Rock.
The defendant signed her mother’s name on the checks and used her mother’s Giant Eagle Advantage as part of the transactions that totaled $191.46, documents said.
Police Tuesday arrested Reid for a parole violation. She was placed in Butler County Prison. District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned her Thursday on a list of charges in the criminal case.
She is charged with identity theft and four counts of access device fraud, all felonies. Additionally, she is charged with four counts each of theft by deception and forgery, and theft by unlawful taking and access device fraud, all misdemeanors.

Court papers noted that both defendants used phones to set up the alleged drug deals with the informants.
Bain and Leight are each charged in arrest warrants with delivery of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, both felonies.
