Monday — Diane R. McFeaters, 51, of Butler was charged with bad checks for allegedly passing separate bogus $600 checks to a Butler woman on Oct. 18 and Nov. 15. Both checks were written on an account with insufficient funds.Monday — Melissa K. Ford, 42, of Butler was charged with bad checks for allegedly passing a bogus $100 check to a Butler woman Sept. 1. The check was written on an account with insufficient funds.11:03 p.m. Saturday — A Butler man is accused of hosting an underage drinking party at his Zeigler Avenue home.Dean Wiles, 18, was home when police were called to his house, where they found a number of people under 21 years old.Officers also found inside the home, according to a police report, two prescription painkillers, two bongs with suspected marijuana residue, a syringe and an empty bottle of vodka.Police said Wiles is charged with furnishing alcohol to minors, possession of drug paraphernalia, underage drinking and disorderly conduct.Richard Everetts, 18, of Chicora is charged with possession of a controlled substance and underage drinking, the police report said. Also cited for underage drinking were David Stewart 20, of Butler and three youths between 15 and 17, who police did not identify.11:54 a.m. Saturday — Michael S. Unger, 41, of Butler Township allegedly tried to run over his wife with a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer as she walked with her two sons near the YMCA on North Washington Street, police said.The alleged victim, 45-year-old Christine Unger, told police that after she and her husband had argued earlier in the morning, she and her sons, 10 and 12, started walking to the YMCA.She said the defendant drove up to them on Pearl Street before traveling down an alley the wrong way and going over a sidewalk curb."(The younger boy) yelled to his mother at which time she was able to turn and avoid being struck," according to a police report. She told police that the vehicle stopped "within inches" of hitting her and the two boys.Michael Under showed up at the police station and denied he tried to run down his wife; rather, he said, his foot slipped on the gas pedal. He is charged with reckless endangerment and simple assaultFriday — Two boys, who police did not identify, are accused of firing a BB gun at the glass door of the former Shop-n-Save building at Pullman Square and the window at the front of the Butler County Assistance Office on Woody Drive.The glass door and window were shattered by several BBs, and combined damage was estimated at $1,030, police said.The same two boys later in the day reportedly were seen shooting BBs in the Lyndora area in Butler Township.

Saturday — Three people were arrested for driving under the influence during a roving patrol detail in the county. Officers stopped 107 vehicles as part of the detail and also arrested five people on drug charges and five others wanted on warrants. Additionally, six people were cited for underage drinking, and one each was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors, public drunkenness and false identification to law enforcement officers. Officers also issued 28 tickets and 77 warnings for traffic violations.

Monday — Police warned residents of a new telephone scam making the rounds. The scam works this way: the caller pretends to be a police officer and advises the would-be victims that they owe money on a credit account. The scammer threatens jail or court action if they don't send money requested as part of the ruse. Investigators said the suspects, who have Middle Eastern accents, claim to represent "First Credit Protection" and have used the name of "Danny Foster" as the purported officer.Sunday — Someone between 8 and 9 p.m. stole a 16,500-BTU turbo heater from the bed of a truck at Vin & Joe's parking lot on Route 38 in Summit Township. The yellow and black heater is valued at $1,000.

1:38 a.m. Sunday — David A. Proper, 40, of Rimersburg was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 861 and Flick Road in Madison Township.

Monday — A suspected identity thief is accused of using a Hadley woman's credit card between Nov. 30 and Dec. 6 to rack up more than $5,500 in unauthorized purchases at stores in and around Grove City, and other stores in Crawford and Venango counties.Police did not identify the suspect, who faces charges including access device fraud and theft by deception.2:15 a.m. Sunday — Terry W. Allison, 55, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 58 and Hall Road in Findley Township.7:30 a.m. Wednesday — A truck driven by Jose V. Alvaro, 62, of Cape Coral, Fla., crashed and rolled on Route 173 on the Interstate 80 off-ramp in Wolf Creek Township. The truck went over the guardrail and landed on its roof. Police said Alvaro was cited for running a stop sign.
