Tuesday — David Beyer reported that his East Wayne Street apartment was broken into twice in the past two weeks. A Samurai sword, valued at $10, was taken in the first break-in Jan. 12. Taken in the second burglary Sunday was a Special Forces bayonet worth $80, a sheath knife worth $50 and a dagger-style boot knife valued at $30.11:17 p.m. Monday — Theodore Simon, 48, of Butler was hurt when he lost control of his pickup truck on Brugh Avenue and it crashed into a concrete block garage. He was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for unknown injuries. The pickup and garage, owned by John and Tracey Saul of Butler, had extensive damage.7:38 p.m. Monday — George Washington Staley III, 41, was arrested following a domestic dispute with his 44-year-old girlfriend, Melissa Newman, at their Brugh Avenue home.Newman told officers that Staley trashed the home and smashed two windows. Also while Staley slammed a storm door, the door hit Newman's left hand, injuring a finger.Staley was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.1:47 a.m. Sunday — A man and woman from Allegheny County face drug charges after police stopped their car on South Main Street for not using turn signals.Laron Powell, 21, of Homestead, the driver, gave a phony name to officers. They searched him and found a small amount of suspected crack cocaine. In the car, police found suspected marijuana and a back pack, which contained a digital scale with suspected cocaine residue.Kalah Pfleiderer, 22, of Homestead, a passenger, was found with a suboxone pill in her pocket. She apparently did not have a prescription for the drug, which is used for treatment of addiction to opiates.Police later identified Powell at the station, and they also learned he was wanted on three warrants in Allegheny County.Both suspects are charged with possession of a controlled substance. Additionally, Powell is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, false identification to law enforcement authorities and three traffic violations.Powell was arraigned and placed in Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail. Police said Pfleiderer, who was told she would get a summons for her charge, was allowed to leave.
Wednesday — Police charged Crystal L. Koebler-Orloski, 40, of Gibsonia, Allegheny County, with being drunk while driving a car occupied by her three children earlier this month.Koebler-Orloski was arrested Jan. 15 after she drove herself and the children to the police barracks in Butler Township about 10 p.m., apparently to discuss an unrelated incident.A trooper smelled alcohol on her breath and asked if she had been drinking. She admitted to having two drinks at a bar earlier that day.A breath test later showed her blood-alcohol level at 0.153 percent. A level of 0.08 is considered intoxicated under state law.Koebler-Orloski is charged with driving under the influence, three counts of reckless endangerment, driving with a suspended license and two other traffic violations.8 a.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Rita Scott, 32, of Parker slid off Bonniebrook Road near Shacklee Drive and ended in a yard. Scott was cited for a lane violation.Sunday — A burglar stole unspecified items after breaking into three different apartments at Colonial Apartments on North Main Street in Slippery Rock. The burglaries happened between 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.9:20 p.m. Saturday — Ryan L. Jackson, 26, of Boyers was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Allison and Boyers roads in Marion Township.
12:32 p.m. Tuesday — A minivan driven by Darl R. Wiggin, 23, of Brookville, Jefferson County, and a car driven by Kenneth D. Burton, 20, of Parker collided on Route 68 near Front Street in Piney Township. Wiggin was cited for a lane violation.State Police, Mercer4:30 a.m. Saturday — Kadi L. Mathieson, 20, of Grove City was hurt when she lost control of her car and crashed into a wooden fence and two mailboxes before hitting a tree along Route 208 in Pine Township. Mathieson, who suffered a minor injury, was cited for a lane violation.
