Monday — Police charged George Washington Staley III, 41, of Butler for allegedly using his niece's state Department of Public Welfare-issued ACCESS card seven times earlier this month without the cardholder's permission.Her card, Laura Antonelli of Butler told police, was used six times at the Viaduct Market on March 10 to purchase $423.30 in items. It was used once March 11 at a convenience store for $25.75.She suspected the defendant, who was at her house and had access to the card, a police report said. Police spoke to Staley, who allegedly admitted illegally using the card.He told officers he "was having a hard time, and he needed help getting milk and formula for his kids," the police report said."He stated he intended to pay Antonelli back once he and his girlfriend were signed for (state Department of Health's Women, Infants and Children Program), and had their own assistance."Staley is charged with access device fraud and theft.3 a.m. Saturday — Kelly Ann Morrissey, 23, of Worthington, Armstrong County, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 8 South. Police also cited Morrissey for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and a lane violation.
5:47 p.m. Sunday — Renzo Cipriani, 41, of Butler was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving struck a traffic sign at Old Plank Road and Alhambra Drive. Cipriani was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for a leg injury.12:12 a.m. Sunday — Wayne Smith, 29, of Connoquenessing was arrested for driving under the influence after his vehicle struck a sign at the Armco main gate on Armco Drive. Police also cited Smith for hit-and-run and a lighting violation.1:53 a.m. Saturday — Thomas Krchelich, 27, of Butler was arrested for allegedly hitting his girlfriend about the head and face in the Rock Ann Haven parking lot on Greenwood Drive. Krchelich was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment and public drunkenness, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.
Friday — An unknown thief stole the Pennsylvania license plate from a vehicle parked in the alley behind Squirrelly's Skin Art on South Broad Street. The theft occurred between 11 p.m. Thursday and 4:30 p.m. Friday.Friday — An unknown vandal between 1:30 p.m. Thursday and 1:15 p.m. Friday threw paint inside a vehicle parked in the 200 block of West Pine Street.
Friday — Police arrested Brandon M. Ealy, 25, of Butler on charges he broke into a Campbell Road home in Concord Township on March 14 and stole an Xbox video game system and accessories, and two cell phones.Ealy was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass and theft, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $7,500 bail.Friday — Police filed charges against Andrew C. Fink, 19, and Joel McKissick Jr., 20, both of Butler, for allegedly stealing scrap metal from Soose Auto Wrecking on Swamp Run Road in Center Township.The suspects are accused of taking the stolen scrap to Bob's Auto & Salvage on Route 38 in Oakland Township and selling it for $120.Fink and McKissick are both charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.
2:17 a.m. Saturday — Matthew Claypoole, 22, of Worthington was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 422 and Glade Run Road in East Franklin Township.
2:45 a.m. Friday — Brian K. Jessee, 41, of Stoneboro was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 965 in Worth Township, Mercer County. Police also cited Jessee for careless driving, a lane violation and not pulling over for an emergency vehicle.4:50 p.m. Thursday — A 13-year-old boy is accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old Mercer area girl at a home on Old Ash Road in Springfield Township. Police did not identify the boy who faces charges of possible indecent assault.Thursday — Police cited two Slippery Rock women for allegedly shoplifting seven items, mostly Wii video games, worth a combined $219.72 from the Wal-Mart in Pine Township on March 14. The suspects, Taquesha P. Tucker, 19, and Kennisha L. Walker, 18, are charged with retail theft.
