Butler PoliceWednesday — An unknown burglar overnight kicked in the door of a garage at a home in the 200 block of Broad Street. The door frame was damaged but nothing was taken from the 61-year-old man’s garage.9:07 p.m. Tuesday — A girl was arrested after she was found inside a vacant house in the 200 block of Howard Street. Police later learned she was a runaway and truant from school for more than a week.The girl, who police did not identify, was turned over to juvenile court authorities following her arrest. She is charged with trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia.Tuesday — A car was damaged overnight in a possible hit-and-run crash in the 300 block of Negley Avenue. The car, owned by a 55-year-old man, had scratch marks down the entire passenger side.4:55 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Zachery J. Miller, 20, of Kittanning rear-ended another car on Route 8 South. Tessa R. Williams, 23, of Karns City was the other driver.10:57 a.m. Sunday — A Chicora woman suffered only minor injuries after the pickup truck she was driving struck a retaining wall at one home, the railing of a second home and a pillar underneath the porch of a third home in the 400 block of Brown Avenue.Heather M. Jones, 28, told police she lost control of the truck after she momentarily blacked out. She said when she regained consciousness, she had crashed and was crashing, according to court documents.Paramedics checked out Jones at the sene but she refused further treatment.3:53 p.m. Monday — Police recovered several items still in their original packaging in the 100 block of West Pearl Street. The items included a new-in-the-box grass trimmer and several new DVDs. The owner can claim the property by calling police at 724-287-7743.2:47 p.m. Sunday — Two would-be thieves tried to make off with several tires at Fuller Auto Sales on Pillow Street. The unknown suspects cut a section of the chain-link fence to get into the auto lot.Police were called but the men took off running empty-handed. Both suspects are white and in their early-20s. Both also were bald or had very short-cropped hair and had numerous tattoos on their arms.11:15 a.m. Friday — Victoria Lee Berzonski, 21, of Valencia was caught allegedly shoplifting tennis shoes valued at $30 from the Kmart store at Pullman Square.Police said she initially gave a phony name and claimed she had no identification. A search, however, turned up her real identification, according to court documents.Berzonski is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities, a misdemeanor, and a summary count of retail theft.Oct. 8 — A donation box was stolen from the Butler Arts Center on South Main Street. The oak box, believed to have contained about $20, has a plastic top and a lock. Police said they have no suspects.Oct. 8 — A 10-speed mountain bike was taken between Oct. 6 and 8 from the front porch of a home in the 600 block of East Brady Street. The maroon bicycle, valued at $100, has an Immel Bicycle Center sticker on it.Oct. 8 — A wallet was stolen overnight from a vehicle at a home on Sullivan Street. The 32-year-old woman’s wallet contained $43, a bank debit card and other personal identification.
Butler Twp. PoliceWednesday — Police charged Jordan R. Zulick, 20, of Prospect with using a bank debit card without the owner’s permission to make an illegal $800 automated teller machine withdrawal at a local convenience store.Zulick is charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of access device fraud, and misdemeanor counts of identity theft and theft by unlawful taking.Wednesday — William M. Ireland, 46, of Butler was charged with drugged driving after police found him at 1:35 p.m. Sept. 28 passed out at the steering wheel of a car at McKean Street and Belmont Road.A search of Ireland’s car also turned up suspected heroin and other drug contraband.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, he is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, careless driving and improperly stopping on the road.Wednesday — Police charged Douglas L. Robertson, 58, of Butler with DUI stemming from an 11:34 p.m. Sept. 26 traffic stop on New Castle Road. He also was cited for careless driving.3:59 p.m. Tuesday — Melanie L. Dudgeon, 26, of Butler was found under the influence of heroin and with drug contraband following a medical call to a home on Piper Lane. She is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia9:43 a.m. Tuesday — A 12-year-old boy was caught with a knife in his backpack as he passed through the metal detector at Butler Intermediate High School. Police said they charged the boy with possession of a weapon on school property.3:35 a.m. Monday — Raymond T. Maloney, 18, of Cranberry Township was arrested after he and Gary Worlds, 18, of Butler got into a suspected drunken disturbance on Whitestown Road.Police said both teens were cited for underage drinking. Maloney also is charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.8 p.m. Oct. 1 — David J. Perri, 55, of Butler was arrested for drugged driving after he was found passed out in the driver’s seat at the drive-through window of the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe at Alameda Plaza.He is charged with driving under the influence of multiple controlled substances.
State Police, ButlerWednesday — Police charged two Butler boys in the summer break-in at the Switchback Raceway on Route 8 in Center Township.The suspects, 15 and 17, once inside the racetrack allegedly took a battery charger and tried to start an old bucket truck. Both youths are charged in juvenile court with burglary.8:46 a.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Brian J. Dickson, 25, of Champaign, Ill., and a Mack truck driven by Timothy M. Walker, 57, of Kittanning collided at Route 8 and Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Dickson was cited for a flashing red light violation.12:16 a.m. Sunday — Robert N. West, 23, of Cranberry Township was arrested after he was caught with suspected drugs at The Heights apartment complex in Slippery Rock Township.Best was arraigned on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.2:52 a.m. Saturday — Crystal J. Thompson, 29, of Summit Township was nearly 2½ times over the legal limit for alcohol when she was arrested for drunken driving at East Diamond and Main streets in Butler.After failing field sobriety tests, Thompson was taken to the barracks for a breath test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.198 percent, according to court documents. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Thompson is charged with driving under the influence, failing to stop at a red light, making an improper turn, careless driving and reckless driving.
State Police, Clarion5:49 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Hector A. Figueroa-Guzman, 25, of Detroit crashed into the median on Interstate 80 near Emlenton-Clintonville Road in Richland Township, Clarion County. The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.Police said Figueroa-Guzman was cited for driving without a license and driving without insurance.
State Police, New Castle7:48 a.m. Wednesday — Two teens were hurt in a one-vehicle crash in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Joshua D. Mayle, 16, of Ellwood City lost control of the sport utility vehicle at Hogue and Dutch Ridge roads and struck a tree.Hogue and a 15-year-old Ellwood City boy, a passenger in the SUV, both suffered minor injuries. Neither boy was wearing a seat belt. Three other passengers, all teens from Ellwood City, were not injured.
