Buffalo Township

April 6 — Michael W. Hungerford Jr., 37, of Apollo, was charged with misdemeanor counts of first-offense DUI, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest following a March 25 response to a man slumped over the wheel of a vehicle in the Sheetz parking lot, Buffalo Township.

Police said Hungerford woke and became loud, confrontational and refused to leave the vehicle. Police said they used force to arrest him from the vehicle as he resisted. Hungerford later refused to have his blood tested.

Butler

April 4 — Anthony L. Williams, 32, of Butler, was charged with felony theft related to a report of a vehicle stolen from the Eau Claire Street Cafe, Butler. Police said witnesses saw Williams argue with a woman at the bar, then take her keys and leave. Williams was identified through witnesses, photographs and his driver’s license information.

April 4 — Frederick E. Wise Jr., 26, of Parker, was charged with misdemeanor theft related to a hammer drill that was not returned to Kenmac Rental in Butler. Police said despite attempts by the business to reach out to Wise, the tool was never returned. The drill’s estimated value is about $1,200.

Cranberry Township

April 5 — Larry C. Nye, 58, of Cranberry Township, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from Feb. 28 two-vehicle vehicle crash on Rochester Road, Cranberry Township. Police said field sobriety tests showed that Nye was impaired, and a later blood test showed his blood-alcohol content at .145%. In Pennsylvania, the legal limit is .08%.

April 5 — Prince H. McIntosh, 37, of Bellevue, was charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and possessing stolen property related to a dispatch March 17 to Walmart in Butler Township. Store employees claimed to have witnessed McIntosh stealing items on March 17 and March 7 for a combined value of about $219.

Dog Law Enforcement

April 3 — Joyce A. Buchanan, 60, of Butler, is charged with misdemeanor counts of failing to register a dangerous dog and noncompliance with requirements for keeping a dangerous dog. Buchanan’s dog, a German Shepherd named Rajah, was deemed dangerous in October 2021. Investigators said the proper paperwork for keeping the dog has not been filed.

Penn Township

April 6 — Leighton O. Thorpe Jr., 30, of Butler, is charged with three felony counts of child endangerment and three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment stemming from a March 9 traffic stop on Route 8 near Vogel Road, Penn Township.

Police on patrol said they saw sparks coming from Thorpe’s vehicle. Thorpe was a passenger in the vehicle, and he is charged because he knowingly allowed his three children to be driven in a vehicle with a blown-out tire while also not being secured by car seats or seat belts, according to police.

The driver, Jasmine Thorpe, who is the children’s mother, was charged with identical offenses March 16.

State Police, Butler

April 7 — Erica B. Boltz, 42, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault related to an altercation with a man at a home on Mercer Road, Butler. Police said Boltz hit the man multiple times, causing scratches to his face, arm and stomach.

April 4 — Haji Jacobs, 30, of New Castle, was charged with felony possession of contraband and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession related to his arrest March 5 for felony DUI charges. Police said during his processing into Butler County Prison, he was found with a glass smoking pipe concealed in his body.
