2:17 a.m. Sunday — A 16-year-old girl was arrested after she allegedly assaulted her mother during a domestic dispute at their home on Hazel Avenue.

Police did not identify the girl, who is accused of punching the 35-year-old victim in the face. She suffered redness and swelling under the left eye.

The teenager told officers that she was angry over her mother being too loud and for “always taking her boyfriend’s side,” according to a police report. The girl is charged in Butler County juvenile court with simple assault.

Police said the teen was turned over to the custody of juvenile probation authorities.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock Police[/naviga:h3]

Dec. 5 — Brian J. Miller, 28, of Slippery Rock was charged with swiping a Beanie Baby last month at the Sheetz convenience store on Franklin Street.

Surveillance video, according to court documents, showed Miller prepay for gasoline before he went to the coffee bar where he allegedly took the stuffed animal toy from a display. He is accused of leaving without paying for the item.

Miller, who has one prior shoplifting conviction, is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock University Police[/naviga:h3]

Dec. 2 — Jared B. Buckholt, 19, of Mars was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop last month at the Rock Hall resident parking lot in Slippery Rock Township. Police said they pulled him over about 5:50 p.m. Nov. 18 for having a driver’s side headlight that was not working.

Buckholt showed impairment during field sobriety testing, according to court documents, and he admitted having smoke marijuana earlier that day.

A subsequent blood test at Butler Memorial Hospital confirmed he had marijuana in his system, police said.

He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and a lighting violation.

Nov. 29 — Police charged a Westmoreland County woman with driving while impaired on alcohol and drugs in connection with a traffic stop earlier in the month on campus.

Paige M. Kistler, 21, of Greensburg was pulled over about 10 p.m. because one of her rear brake lights wasn’t working, police said. She stopped after driving onto the curb on East Central Loop.

Kistler had to use the door to brace herself when she stepped out of her car, according to court documents. Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the car and noticed a piece of suspected marijuana on her shirt.

She failed field sobriety tests and a submitted to a portable breath test device, indicated her blood-alcohol level was above the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.

Kistler was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.94 percent. She also tested positive for marijuana.

She is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, DUI, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, and a lighting violation.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]

Thursday — David K. Arnold, 38, of Butler was charged with having suspected heroin while being booked into the Butler County Prison last month.

Police said the defendant was taken to the prison Nov. 3 on previous charges and while being searched by guards, 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin were found in his wallet.

“Arnold advised he forgot (the purported drugs) were in his wallet,” according to a police affidavit.

He is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance/contraband by an inmate and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

7:14 a.m. Dec. 12 — No one was injured when a pickup truck collided with a school bus filled with children in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.

Police said the crash happened when Harold C. Braden, 25, of West Middlesex lost control of his southbound pickup while traveling downhill on Route 19 just north of Muddy Creek Road. The truck crossed the double yellow line and drifted into the northbound lane, hitting the bus head-on.

Jody L. Wilson, 48, of Prospect was driving the bus that had 39 passengers on board. The passengers included 37 children between the ages of 11 and 17, and two 18-year-olds.

Police cited Braden for disregarding traffic lanes.
