Butler Police
4:16 p.m. Thursday — A Butler man in a wheelchair was injured when he was struck by a car at East Jefferson and South Cliff streets. William Christy, 64, was treated at Butler Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
A witness told police that Christy was in the cross walk about half way across South Cliff Street in his wheelchair when a car turned off East Jefferson Street and hit Christy, knocking him off the wheelchair.
The driver, Chris E. Silverio, 50, of Chicora, told police that while turning onto South Cliff Street he saw Christy and tried to avoid him but he was unable to stop in time. No charges were immediately filed in the accident.
1:30 p.m. Thursday — Barbara A. Dolhi, 58, of Center Township was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after a sport utility vehicle collided with the car she was driving at North and North Cedar streets.
A police report did not indicate the extent of Dolhi’s injuries. She was wearing a seat belt. Robert D. Baron, 61, of Butler was driving the SUV.
Sunday — An unidentified vehicle struck the driver’s side door of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Rockaway Avenue. The unknown driver did not stop after hitting the vehicle, owned by a 26-year-old Fenelton man.
Butler Twp Police
1:47 p.m. Tuesday — Stephen M. Richards, 57, of Lyndora was arrested following a disturbance in the 600 block of Bessemer Avenue. Police said they initially took Richards into custody for being intoxicated but he later allegedly resisted officers while being taken to a cruiser.
Richards, who was treated for injuries suffered during the incident, was later placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail. He is charged with resisting arrest, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Police also charged Mary Rendine, 62, of Lyndora, stemming from the disturbance.
Grove City Police
7:25 a.m. Thursday — Donald W. Thompson, 36, of Grove City was arrested on a bench warrant issued through domestic relations following a traffic stop on Chestnut Street near North Broad Street. Police said he also was cited for driving without a license and driving an unregistered vehicle.
7:50 a.m. Sunday — A 14-year-old illegal driver faces several charges after a minor accident at Main and Liberty streets. Police said the youth, who they did not identify, will be charged in juvenile court with unauthorized use of a vehicle, receiving stolen property, driving without a license, stop sign violation and improperly backing up a vehicle.
Middlesex Twp Police
May 26 — Zachery M. Birckbichler, 34, of Butler was arraigned on felony drug charges stemming from an April 20 traffic stop in Middlesex Township. Police said they stopped Birckbichler after he passed an officer’s cruiser in a minivan traveling 61 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 8.
The officer later searched the suspect and found him with a baggie of marijuana, a bag of five painkillers and a marijuana pipe. He also had a cigarette pack that contained cocaine, according to a police report.
A search of the van turned up a digital scale that police said was “covered in cocaine residue.
Additionally, police seized $475 in currency and Birckbichler’s cell phone, which investigators alleged contained messages from several drug customers.
Birckbichler is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility, both felonies. He also is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
He remains free on his own recognizance.
5:07 p.m. May 24 — Brian R. Donevitch, 26, of Butler was allegedly caught with marijuana during a traffic stop on Route 8 near Old Plank Road in Penn Township. He is charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He also was cited for careless driving and driving at an unsafe speed.
3:30 p.m. May 23 — Daniel P. McConahy, 18, of Renfrew was allegedly found with marijuana after he was stopped going 74 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 8 and Route 228 east in Middlesex Township. Police said they also found him with THC wax, an illegal substance made from the oils of marijuana plants.
Donahy is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Police also cited him for speeding.
6 p.m. May 22 — Michael W. Dorcy, 55, of Butler was arrested for drunken driving after he was stopped weaving in and out of traffic while going nearly double the speed limit on Route 8 at Browns Hill Road in Middlesex Township.
According to police, Dorcy was traveling at a top speed of 87 mph in a 45 mph zone. A blood test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.078 percent, which is slightly below the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit. Police said they still believe at Dorcy’s level he was unable to drive safely.
In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with speeding and careless driving.
May 21 — Brett M. Flory, 19, of Valencia was charged with drugged driving stemming from a traffic stop about 1:50 a.m. April 4 in Middlesex Township. Police said they also found him with a small amount of marijuana and a smoking pipe.
Flory is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Butler
8:08 a.m. Thursday — Sean Dorrier, 45, of Harrisville was hurt when the bed liner fell off an unidentified pickup truck and shattered the windshield of the minivan he was driving on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Dorrier suffered minor injuries.
The pickup is believed to be white and possibly a Chevrolet make.
Thursday — Someone broke into the concession stand at the East Butler baseball fields on 10th Street and stole about $140 in currency from the cash register and $200 worth of food.
The burglary happened between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and noon Thursday. The East Butler Baseball Association owns the stolen property. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
Thursday — Caitland N. Ringler, 19, of Slippery Rock was arraigned on charges in connection with the alleged theft of jewelry in late March from a home in the 400 block of South Street in Harrisville. The stolen property was subsequently sold March 31 at a gold store in Center Township.
Ringler is charged with theft and receiving stolen property. She was released on her own recognizance following arraignment.
Wednesday — An unknown burglar ransacked a home in the 600 block of Mahood Road in Clay Township and stole assorted tools, a wooden cabinet, metal work bench and seven gallons of gas. The stolen property is valued at $350.
The suspect also broke a mirror and five windows in addition to the door that was forced in to get inside. Damage to the home was estimated at $200. The burglary happened between May 20 and Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
12:16 p.m. Tuesday — A pickup truck driven by Norman D. Mitchell, 72, of Corry, Erie County, struck a deer on Route 8 just north of Kelly Road in Clay Township. Mitchell was not hurt but his pickup had to be towed away.
Tuesday — Items valued at $7,427 were stolen from an unlocked detached garage in a burglary at a home on Hutchins Lane in Muddy Creek Township. The break-in happened between noon Sunday and noon Tuesday.
State Police, Kittanning
Monday — Police charged Sheila M. Corner, 32, of Mercer with theft by deception and receiving stolen property stemming from a fraudulent merchandise return scheme May 5 at the Walmart in Pine Township.
