1:21 a.m. Wednesday — Benjamin T. Zellefrow, 39, of Kittanning was arrested on a bench warrant on Liberty Street. Police said Zellefrow was wanted by the county sheriff’s office when they spotted him and another man walking on the sidewalk.
When the other man, Brandon C. Curry, 27, of Butler, removed his identification information from his pants pocket, according to court documents, an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin fell out.
Police said they searched Curry and found a syringe in another pants pocket and a crack pipe in a coat pocket. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Zellefrow was placed in Butler County Prison.
Wednesday — Police charged Levi A. Orloski, 18, of Butler with causing nearly $3,400 in damage to a car that he allegedly struck with eggs last fall on the 700 block of South Main Street.
The victim reported the incident occurred Nov. 26. He said his car, a Subaru Impreza, and his house were “egged” that day, according to court documents. He said when he washed off his car, he discovered the damage.
Police said they eventually spoke to other youths who admitted their roles in the egging and identified Orloski as also being involved, documents said.
“All of the involved parties,” a police affidavit said,” had agreed to drive by the victim’s residence and throw eggs at the house and vehicle.”
Orloski is charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief and conspiracy.
Documents did not indicate if any of the youths were charged.
[naviga:h3]Butler Township Police[/naviga:h3]
3:37 p.m. Tuesday — Vehicles driven by Larry L. Maser, 65, of Butler and Mallory Truax, 21, of Chicora collided on the Route 8 north exit ramp from Route 422. Police cited Maser for driving too fast for conditions.
Jan. 19 — George E. Stevenson, 63, of Center Township was charged with being more than 3½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol, stemming from a call last month for a man stumbling around while trying to get into a pickup truck parked on South Duffy Road.
Police got there and spoke to two witnesses who reported they saw Stevenson urinating in the middle of the road about 12:50 a.m. Dec. 1, according to court documents.
Stevenson failed field sobriety tests and a portable breath test device indicated he had alcohol in his system. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.
During an interview with police, documents said, Stevenson said he consumed 10 beers that night at the Lyndora American Legion.
Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.300 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.
Stevenson is charged with driving under the influence, improperly stopping his vehicle and disorderly conduct.
[naviga:h3]Jackson Twp Police[/naviga:h3]
5:53 a.m. Thursday — A deer led to a pair of consecutive accidents on Route 19 near The Perfect Piece home furnishings store. One of the drivers was injured.
Police said the first accident happened when a 49-year-old Zelienople woman hit and killed a deer while traveling south in a Hyundai Elantra. The car went over the deer and damaged the car’s radiator, police said.
The woman, who police did not identify, pulled off the road. Moments later, a 37-year-old Zelienople woman, driving south in a Ford Expedition, ran over the carcass and lost control of her vehicle, hitting a guardrail.
Police also did not identify the other woman, who was later driven by private vehicle to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with apparent minor injuries.
Both vehicles had to be towed.
[naviga:h3]Middlesex Township Police[/naviga:h3]
Monday — Jeffrey T. Quail, 25, of Valencia was charged with being more than 2½ times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a traffic stop earlier this month on Overbrook Road near Route 8.
A patrol officer was traveling Route 8 about 2:45 a.m. Jan. 14 when he saw Quail’s truck nearly strike the guardrail while turning onto Overbrook Road. The truck fishtailed on the snow-covered road, court documents said, and again nearly hit the guardrail.
The officer followed the truck and saw it travel onto the berm for about 150 feet shortly before the intersection with Truver Road. Quail was stopped and subsequently failed field sobriety testing.
Police took him to the Butler police station for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.205 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.
Quail is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Monday — Austin W. Wilhelm, 20, of Butler was charged with drugged driving stemming from a September traffic stop for speeding on Route 422 in Muddy Creek Township. His sport utility vehicle was traveling 82 mph in a 55 zone about 11:35 p.m. Sept. 2.
Police smelled marijuana when they got to the vehicle, according to court documents, and Wilhelm turned over a pipe with marijuana. He also admitted smoking the drug earlier that day.
He showed impairment during field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which confirmed the presence of marijuana.
Wilhelm is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
Monday Chad A. Wimer, 26, of Prospect was charged with using his mother’s credit card, without her permission, last month at a discount store in Muddy Creek Township. He is accused of buying a pack of gum and getting $40 cash back with the card Dec. 30 at the Dollar General on Route 422.
Wimer, who allegedly confessed to the crime, is charged with theft and access device fraud.
Jan. 10 — Police charged an Armstrong County man with driving on drugs in connection with a traffic stop last month in Franklin Township. Police said Timothy J. Stewart, 20, of Rural Valley was pulled over shortly after 5:15 p.m. Dec. 14 for speeding on Route 422 near the South Shore exit.
He admitted smoking marijuana that morning, according to court documents, and admitted that he had the drug in one of his book bags in the back seat. A search of the bag turned up marijuana and other drug contraband.
Stewart was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test that showed he had marijuana in his system.
In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, he is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
