Friday — Someone possibly fired a BB gun or pellet gun that struck a car traveling in the 700 block of Center Avenue.The driver, an 84-year-old Butler Township woman, told police she was going up Center Avenue on Friday night when she heard something hit the side of her car.The next day she noticed a small circular dent on the side of the car. The damage may have been from a BB or pellet, according to a police report.

Thursday — Police charged Robert A. Hanna, 33, of New Castle with drunken driving stemming from a crash about 1:15 a.m. Jan. 7 on Route 528. Police suspect Hanna was intoxicated when his car ended up stuck in a ditch near the water plant.A blood test later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.166 percent, court documents said, or more than twice the 0.08 percent level considered intoxicated under state law.Hanna is charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.

Jan. 4 — Police charged Gerald L. Conklin, 46, of Pittsburgh with passing four bogus checks at a pair of jewelry stores and a general store in the borough. All four checks were written on a closed account.Conklin on Dec. 23 allegedly bounced two checks worth a combined $438 at Whitey's General Store on South Main Street, according to court documents.That same day he bounced two other checks, worth a total of more than $500, at Maddalon Jewelers on South Main Street and Mathew Jewelers on North Main Street.Conklin is charged with four counts each of theft by deception and bad checks.

8:52 a.m. Saturday — One person was hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Evans City. The wreck happened when a tractor-trailer driven by Ronald M. McConahy, 58, of New Castle struck a car driven by Debra L. Sprow, 55, of Fombell, Beaver County.Melanie L. Sprow, a passenger in the car, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. Police said McConahy was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.Jan. 2 — An unknown thief stole unspecified items valued at $1,760 from Wise Guys 4 Fun on West Main Street in Jefferson Township.The business also sustained more than $400 in damage in the theft that happened between Nov. 17 and Jan. 2.

1:16 p.m. Thursday — Austin T. Shumaker, 19, of McDonald, Washington County, was arrested for suspected drugged driving in South Buffalo Township. Police allege Shumaker was under the influence of marijuana when he was stopped for speeding on Route 28 about one mile south of Exit 18.9:40 a.m. Thursday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Amanda Wynkoop, 27, of Kittanning flipped onto its roof and rolled down an embankment after sliding on an ice patch on Freeport Road in North Buffalo Township. Police said Wynkoop was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

1:20 a.m. Thursday — A pickup truck driven by William D. Surrena, 54, of Sandy Lake crashed into a guardrail on Route 62 in Sandy Lake Township. Police said Surrena fled the scene after the wreck.A police report said Surrena was cited for hit-and-run, careless driving and a lane violation.

6:30 a.m. Saturday — A 17-year-old boy, who police did not identify, was arrested for driving under the influence after he crashed his sport utility vehicle into an embankment at Mill Road and Princeton roads in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Police said the boy was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle with unknown injuries.
