Police Reports
These items were collected from various police departments and district courts:
March 15 — Brittany D. Williams, 31, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor counts of drug possession and false identification to police related to a March 1 report of an unresponsive woman on the 200 block of West Pearl Street.
Police found Williams in an unnamed alley. Police said Williams tried to pass herself off as her sister. When a probation officer arrived, police said they found crack cocaine in Williams’ possession.
Williams was being detained and still believed to be her sister, when the probation officer noted Williams’ sister did not have a prosthetic. Police said Williams admitted to her identity at that point.
March 15 — Brian M. Powers, 37, of Butler, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of retail theft related to a March 15 report at Gabe’s in Butler.
Store employees directed police to Powers, who was in the men’s clothing department and found with a number of items. Powers told police he planned to buy them. When they asked him to empty his pockets, police saw 10 to 12 price tags he had concealed. Police said the total value was about $436.
March 15 — Zachary B. Eppley, 25, of Butler, was charged with felony drug sales and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession related to an Sept. 16 investigation into a suspected marijuana growing operation on the 400 block of West New Castle Street.
A landlord called police to view Eppley’s room in an apartment building. Police saw light coming from the closet and requested a warrant to search the room. They later found three marijuana plants growing in the closet, as well as drug paraphernalia.
March 14 — Dakota M. Sloan, 27, of Butler, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of drug and paraphernalia possession related to a March 8 report of two men slumped over in a vehicle on the 100 block of Goldwood Road, Butler.
Firefighters at the scene woke the men, and during their investigation police found Sloan, the passenger, had an active warrant for his arrest. Police said during his arrest, they saw his backpack, where they found drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs.
March 14 — Cortney A. Scott, 30, of Butler, was charged with two misdemeanor counts drug possession, related to a Feb. 1 arrest.
Scott had a warrant for her arrest, and during her arrest, police said they found 16 stamp bags of suspected heroin and nine pills of suspected prescription medication.
Feb. 27 — Douglas J. Rieger, 42, of Butler, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple assault related to a report of domestic violence on the 200 block of College Hill Avenue.
Police talked with Rieger’s wife at the scene, who claimed her husband had slapped her and pushed her into a TV stand. Police saw injuries consistent with her story.
Feb. 23 — Richard Bertino, 62, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor theft, related to a Nov. 19 report of stolen money raised at the Butler Moose Lodge for the family of a member who died.
A witness told police they saw Bertino, a trustee for the club, in the room where the money was kept before the theft of $350 was discovered. Police said Bertino claimed he had a receipt for a money order to prove he paid the money back. Police said they have yet to see the receipt.
Feb. 24 — Susan L. Jones, 52, of Zelienople, was charged with DUI related to a Feb. 13 report of an erratic driver on South Main Street, Zelienople.
Police found the vehicle and stopped it for crossing lines on the road. Police said field sobriety tests showed Jones was impaired, and a later blood test showed her blood-alcohol content at 0.238%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% or greater is considered intoxicated.
