Butler Police

Today — Police reported that Robert E. Null, 59, of Butler faces a charge of receiving stolen property a week after police found a stolen license plate on Null’s car on Maple Avenue. Officers seized the plate, owned by a 51-year-old Butler man, and had the car towed away.

5:29 p.m. Feb. 3 — Officers turned up contraband items after stopping a car they spotted leaving a suspected drug house in the 200 block of Hallet Street.

Police said they stopped the car at Spring Street and Center Avenue for having a cracked taillight and missing side view mirrors. Following the stop, they also noticed the inspection sticker was expired.

The driver, Crystal M, Drake, 29, of Fairview Township, allowed officers to search the car, according to a police report. The search uncovered a syringe and spoon that were inside a makeup bag found in the car’s center console.

Additionally, police turned up a smoking pipe under the front seat.

Drake admitted the makeup bag was hers and Dean R. Potts, 52, of Butler, a passenger in the car, admitted the pipe was his, the report said.

Police said both Drake and Potts are charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Drake also was cited for driving without a valid inspection.

Feb. 3 — An unidentified vehicle struck a car parked in front of a woman’s house in the 200 block of East Cunningham Street and did not stop after the crash. The car sustained a broken taillight and a scratch on the driver’s side from the taillight to the front door.

Grove City Police

Thursday — Police cited Jessica M. Kamerer, 27, of Mercer in connection with a Jan. 17 traffic stop during which she gave officers a bogus name and birth date. Kamerer is charged with providing false identification to law enforcement authorities and driving with a suspended license.

State Police, Butler

8:45 a.m. Sunday — Carlo Zanetti, 27, of Saxonburg was arrested in Butler about 35 minutes after he allegedly pointed a gun at a 25-year-old woman during a domestic dispute in Saxonburg.

Zanetti after allegedly threatening to kill the woman took off in a sport utility vehicle. Police were immediately informed of the alleged crime and began looking for the suspect and the SUV.

The vehicle was spotted about 8:30 a.m. northbound on Route 8, and troopers took up pursuit Just before 8:40 a.m., the vehicle was seen near the Greater Butler Mart in Butler Township.

Less than 5 minutes later, a state police cruiser, siren and emergency lights activated, sped past the Butler County Courthouse on Main Street and eventually stopped the suspect. He was arrested without incident.

Zanetti was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He is in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.

1:30 a.m. Sunday — A 17-year-old Mercer boy, who police did not identify, was found under the influence of drugs at The Heights apartment complex in Slippery Rock Township. Police said the boy, who was found with suspected marijuana, faces unspecified drug charges in juvenile court.

12:30 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by Andrew G. Mikucki, 24, of Delran, N.J., hit a guardrail on Church Road just east of Crolls Mill Road in West Liberty. Mikucki told police he lost control of his car when he hit the brakes to avoid a deer on the road. Police said they cited him for driving too fast for conditions.

Saturday — An unknown thief stole two Craftsman wrench sets, valued at $160, from the back of a pickup truck at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. The owner, a 67-year-old Renfrew man, was eating at the Texas Roadhouse restaurant when his property was taken between 6:30 and 7 p.m.

Saturday — An unknown vandal damaged a mailbox at the Living Word Evangelical Free Church on Rieger Road in Franklin Township. The vandalism happened between Tuesday and Saturday.

Saturday — The state police fire marshal’s office in Butler reported that they are investigating a blaze Feb. 1 that destroyed a vacant, 23,400-square-foot pole barn on Red Dog Road in Greene Township, Beaver County.

The early morning fire caused an estimated $120,000 in damage to the property owned by First Energy Corp. of Akron, Ohio.

10:14 a.m. Friday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Brian E. Grystar, 38, of Butler struck a pickup slowing for traffic on Route 68 at Drushel Drive in Connoquenessing. Police said Grystar was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Michael T. Braund, 57, of Butler was driving the pickup.

9:31 a.m. Friday — Michelle L. Dufford, 30, of Evans City suffered unknown injuries in a three-vehicle wreck on Route 68 just north of Drushel Drive in Connoquenessing. The crash happened when Dufford was unable to stop her car and hit the back of an SUV stopped due to traffic.

The collision forced the SUV driven by Melissa A. Valdez, 42, of New Brighton, Beaver County, into the back of a stopped car driven by Jeffery C. Martinelli, 48, of Beaver in Beaver County. Police Dufford, who was not wearing a seat belt, was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

8:53 a.m. Friday — A car driven by Kathleen A. Melago, 39, of Cranberry Township was damaged when it was hit by a large piece of snow or ice that came off an unidentified vehicle passing her in the opposing lane on Route 68 just south of Buss Lane in Connoquenessing. Township.

Police remind motorists that before they start their trip to make sure snow and ice cannot dislodge and fall from their vehicles. Violators, face fines of between $200 and $1,000.

Friday — Two students were caught with suspected drugs and contraband at Karns City Junior/Senior High School in Fairview Township. Both face charges in juvenile court for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Police did not identify the suspects — a 14-year-old Petrolia girl and a 15-year-old East Brady boy.

State Police, Clarion

11:07 a.m. Sunday — Nathan E. Rieck, 23, of Butler was hurt when the pickup truck he was driving crashed and rolled onto its roof on Interstate 80 in Paint Township. Rieck, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Clarion Hospital with minor injuries. Police said he was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

State Police, Kittanning

4 p.m. Saturday — A 28-year-old Connellsville, Fayette County, woman who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after her car got stuck in snow on Route 28 in South Buffalo Township.

State Police, Mercer

2:29 a.m. Saturday — A 21-year-old man was hurt in a rollover crash in Liberty Township, Mercer County. The driver, Daniel J. Mesko, skidded on an ice patch and his vehicle traveled off Route 258, hitting an embankment, rolling over and landing on its wheels in a yard.

Mesko, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police cited him for driving too fast for conditions, disregarding traffic lanes and a nighttime driving violation for someone with a learner’s permit.

1:36 p.m. Feb. 2 — Justin P. McCreadie, 34, of Grove City was hurt when the car he was driving slid on slush, striking a ditch and several fence posts along Route 62 near Fox Mine Road in Jackson Township, Mercer County. McCreadie, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.
