6:34 p.m. Saturday — No injuries were reported when a car driven by John A. Calabria, 48, of Ellwood City rear-ended a motorcycle that was slowing down to make a right turn on Route 488 at Yellow Creek Road in Muddy Creek Township. Police cited Calabria for following too closely to another vehicle.
Hugh G. McCabe, 62, of Zelienople was driving the cycle. He was wearing a helmet.
4:10 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Sean R. Patterson, 32, of Harmony rear-ended a pickup truck on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Police said Patterson left the scene, leaving his car behind, but later turned himself in to police.
He faces charges of hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and other traffic violations, according to a police report. Ronald M. Schettler, 57, of Connoquenessing was driving the pickup.
6:03 p.m. Friday — Dorothy Ann Hansen, 75, of Butler was seriously hurt when her car crashed and overturned in Center Township. Police said her car struck a ditch in the 500 block of Holyoke Road, flipped into the air and landed on its roof.
A medical helicopter flew Hansen to St. Elizabeth’s Health Center in Youngstown Hospital with unspecified injuries. Her condition was not known this morning. Police cited her for careless driving.
Oct. 3 — John Lee Mohan, 33, of Oakland Township was charged with drugged driving after his car ran out of gas Aug. 24 in the 400 block of Chicora Road in Oakland Township.
Police said they were called about 11:40 p.m. for a report of a disabled vehicle and found Mohan pouring gas from a can into his car. The suspect, who appeared impaired, told the trooper that he was driving home to his mother’s house after a day of back-to-school shopping, according to court documents.
He was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology tests subsequently showed he had clonazepam, a prescription drug commonly used to treat anxiety disorders, in his system, documents said.
In addition to driving under the influence, Mohan is charged with driving with a suspended license and careless driving.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
4:30 p.m. Sunday — Peter S. Moore, 42, of Kittanning was nabbed for allegedly stealing merchandise at the Walmart at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. He faces a charge of retail theft.
7:20 a.m. Sunday — A Chevy Impala driven by Devin M. Taylor, 30, of New Castle struck a deer on Leesburg Volant Road just east of Route 208 in Springfield Township. Taylor was not hurt but his car had to be towed.
5 p.m. Saturday — Dalton Mull, 23, of Ford City was caught allegedly removing price tags from cheaper items and placing them on more expensive items at the Hilltop Plaza Walmart in East Franklin Township. Mull faces a charge of retail theft.

9:23 p.m. Saturday — A Beaver County teenager was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after a one-vehicle wreck in Perry Township, Lawrence County. Police said Jerry A. Boots, 18, of Fombell crashed his sport utility vehicle head-on into a utility pole at the dead end on Meadow Land Avenue just east of Perry Street.
Perry and two other Elwood City men were not injured but the SUV was severely damaged. All three occupants were wearing seat belts.
