Butler Police10:30 p.m. Saturday — Ryan Z. Wilson, 26, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Jennifer Smith, and threatened to kill her during a domestic dispute on Cross Street.Wilson was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats and simple assault, and placed in Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.Smith, who suffered a scratch on her left hip, came to the station shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday to report the incident that she said began when the defendant tackled and pinned her down on Cross Street, according to court documents.She told police she got away and went to a nearby store where she called her mother, who picked her up there. But, she recounted, Wilson later called her mother 18 times, apparently seeking to talk with the victim. He is accused of threatening to kill her.Additionally, documents said, Wilson told his girlfriend that if she did not come back to him, he would slit her throat.
Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — Quay M. Barnhart, 23, of Evans City was charged with being more than three times the legal limit for alcohol when he was arrested for drunken driving on New Year’s Day at a fast-food restaurant.Police were initially advised at 11:18 p.m. Jan. 1 of a possibly intoxicated driver who had left the Sheetz convenience store on Route 356. The suspect, later identified as Barnhart, moments earlier was reportedly “stumbling” around in the store, according to court documents.Officers about five minutes later found the defendant at the McDonald’s drive-through at the Butler Crossing shopping plaza where he appeared to be impaired.He subsequently was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. A toxicology report showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.257 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Barnhart is charged with driving under the influence and disobeying traffic control devices.Monday — Police charged Tara L. Hockenberry, 24, who is homeless, and Joshua M. McBride, 25, of Butler in connection with a shoplifting incident Jan. 14 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.Store surveillance caught Hockenberry taking a $228 sound bar and McBride shoplifting a $378 flat-screen television, according to court documents. The suspects were together at the store and pushing the items in separate shopping carts.Both defendants are charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft. Hockenberry also is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities and driving with a suspended license.
Grove City PoliceSunday — A red and black Manco minibike was stolen from a home on the 300 block of Elm Street. The bike was taken between 2 and 9 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.
Butler County Drug Task ForceJan. 17 — Shane M. Bates, 25, of Center Township was charged with having drug contraband at a home on the 100 block of Whitestown Road that was the target of a search warrant Dec. 15.Officers, while serving the warrant, found Bates with seven empty stamp bags of heroin, a syringe and cooking spoon, according to court documents. Additionally, the suspect was arrested when the officers learned that he was wanted on a bench warrant
State Police, Butler5:38 p.m. Tuesday — Police searched for but could not find the hit-and-run driver of a vehicle that crashed on Mushrush Road, just east of Treeline Lane in Jefferson Township.The unidentified vehicle, possibly a green, late-1980s or early-1990s GMC or Chevy pickup truck, was traveling east on Mushrush Road just west of the Saxonburg Road intersection when it went off the south berm, sideswiping a tree and brushing up against a utility pole.The vehicle continued to travel on the south side of the road before sliding out in a grassy area and hitting another utility pole.Police said the suspect vehicle would have damage to its passenger side and front end. Additionally, it would likely have a broken passenger side taillight and at least one broken headlight, and could have a broken passenger side window.Monday — Franklin H. Anthony, 47, of Butler was charged with drunken driving in connection with a traffic stop last month at Route 356 and Shockey Lane. Police said they pulled over Anthony about 10:15 p.m. Dec. 23 for driving without his taillights on.The suspect was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Lab tests showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.172 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with a lighting violation.10:42 p.m. Sunday — Jordan M. McKain, 20, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his pickup truck into a ditch on Chestnut Ridge just east of Swamp Run Road in Franklin Township.McKain, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered an apparent minor injury.1:03 p.m. Saturday — Amanda L. Dennett, 31, of Petrolia, a two-time convicted shoplifter, was arrested after she was caught stealing multiple boxes of gum at the Clearview Mall Giant Eagle store in Center Township.Due to her past convictions, Dennett was arraigned on a felony county of retail theft. She was placed in Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail following arraignment.
State Police, Kittanning3:03 a.m. Saturday — Jason S. Anderson, 38, of Worthington was arrested after he violated a woman’s protection from abuse order when she showed up at her home on Spruce Lane in Worthington.Police said Anderson allegedly damaged some property belonging to the 42-year-old woman before he fled. Troopers later caught him at a nearby home off Laird’s Crossing Road, a police report said.Anderson was arraigned on charges of stalking, harassment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He also is charged with indirect criminal contempt for the alleged PFA violation. He is being held in Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 bail.Friday — An unknown vandal spray painted an 80-year-old man’s vehicle that was parked in the driveway at his home on the 500 block of Route 268 in East Franklin Township. Damage was estimated at $180.The vandalism happened between 5:25 and 8:19 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.
State Police, Mercer5 p.m. Tuesday — Five suspected shoplifters made off with about $1,000 worth of merchandise, primarily watches and hand bags, from the Fossil store at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township.
