10:23 a.m. Tuesday — A car on Route 8 south near Decatur Drive was damaged and its air bags deployed when a wheel came off a minivan and hit the car driven by Anthony Everitt, 27, of Butler. The left front wheel of the van driven by Tammy King, 42, of Butler struck the front of the car.
4:43 p.m. Wednesday — Gail Ann Mercateli, 52, of Saxonburg was caught allegedly shoplifting merchandise from the Boscov's store in the Clearview Mall, Center Township. Police said Mercateli faces a charge of retail theft.Tuesday — The new Denny's Mills Bridge in Winfield Township hasn't had its first vehicle cross it yet and vandals have struck with graffiti. The bridge, which is set to open at the end of May, was vandalized between 4 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Tuesday — Vandals riding all-terrain vehicles drove through a sod field at Vic Nor Farms on Harmony Street Extension in Connoquenessing Township. Damage was estimated at $800. The vandalism occurred between April 21 and Tuesday.Tuesday — An unknown thief stole $100 worth of scrap copper from 414 Claytonia Road in Clay Township. The theft happened between 4:20 and 4:40 a.m.Monday — An unknown burglar stole a 19-inch flat-screen television, electrical power inverter and two digital antennas from Tack Operator Training on East Butler Road in Summit Township. The property stolen in the break-in, which happened between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. is valued at a combined $297.Friday — A 54-year-old woman told police that someone broke into her home on Mizener Lane in Clay Township and stole $985 in currency. The burglary reportedly happened between noon and 9 p.m.
3:45 p.m. Monday — A pickup truck driven by Gary A. Wilson, 57, of Clintonville crashed into a utility pole at Franklin Street and Thorne Alley in Clintonville. Police said Wilson was cited for a lane violation.
Wednesday — Call it one of those senseless C-R-I-M-E-S. Someone stole 76 plastic letters off a portable sign in a field on the south side of Diamond Road about one-quarter mile west of that same road in Pine Township. The stolen property, worth about $50, was taken between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
