Butler Twp Police7:29 p.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Taylor Scholl, 20, of Adrian, Armstrong County, struck another vehicle on New Castle Road at Point Plaza. Police said Scholl was cited for a red light violation. Jennifer Wimer, 33, of Butler was the other driver.
State Police, ButlerTuesday — Charles J. Pranulis II, 24, of Franklin Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a traffic stop at 10:55 p.m. Oct. 21 at New Castle Road and Hansen Avenue in Butler.Police said Pranulis smelled of alcohol. He admitted to stopping at a bar after leaving work, court documents said.He subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.20 percent, or more than twice the state's 0.08 percent legal limit.Pranulis is charged with driving under the influence, failing to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic, careless driving, reckless driving and a seat belt violation.6:51 a.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Kristen R. Shoaff, 28, of New Castle struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.Monday — An unknown thief stole the Kenwood in-dash stereo from a hunter's unlocked vehicle parked on Pisor Road in Venango Township. The owner, a 19-year-old New Castle man, was in nearby woods when the stereo, valued at $250, was taken between 6 and 11:45 a.m.2:08 p.m. Sunday — Christine P. Shelleby, 34, of Cranberry Township was hurt when a vehicle rear-ended her car on Whitestown Road just west of Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township. Shelleby, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury.The other driver, Tammy L. Spinneweber, 48, of Zelienople, was cited for careless driving.2:50 a.m. Nov. 13 — Sean M. Hake, 22, of Sharon, Mercer County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance in the 500 block of Freeport Road in Jefferson Township.Nov. 13 — Police charged Tyler J. Dimaria, 20, with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after he was caught Oct. 18 with contraband at his home on Delu Road in Clay Township.
State Police, Franklin6:15 a.m. Tuesday — Todd A. Fitzgerald, 39, of Harrisville was hurt when he swerved his sport utility vehicle to avoid a deer and crashed into an embankment. The SUV rolled onto its driver's side.Fitzgerald, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a minor injury. The Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
State Police, KittanningTuesday — A suspected hit-and-run driver in a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 fled after wrecking the pickup on Route 422 in East Franklin Township. The truck sustained disabling damage. A police report did not say if investigators have identified the driver.7:10 p.m. Monday — A car driven by Brad E. Fleming, 40, of Elderton struck a deer on Route 28, north of exit 18 in South Buffalo Township.6:40 p.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by David W. Hockenberry, 36, of Butler struck a deer head-on on Route 422 just east of Glade Run Road in East Franklin Township.6:30 p.m. Monday — A vehicle driven by Zachary C. Crissman-Zema, 22, of Kittanning struck a deer on Route 422 just west of Ruth Hill Road in West Franklin Township.
State Police, Mercer7 p.m. Monday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Sammantha J. Carr, 30, of New Castle struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township.6:13 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Clint E. Stevenson, 22, of Grove City struck a deer on I-79 in Springfield Township.11:45 a.m. Nov. 25 — Edward W. Smith, 38, of Syossett, N.Y., was arrested for allegedly giving police a phony name after he was stopped for speeding on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. Troopers eventually learned he was wanted on an unspecified arrest warrant.Smith was arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of false identification to law enforcement authorities. He was placed in the Mercer County Jail on $15,000 bail following arraignment. Police also gave him a ticket for speeding.Nov. 24 — Nothing was taken in a burglary at a 50-year-old man's home in Springfield Township. A door frame sustained damage in the break-in between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Police have no suspects.
