3:35 p.m. Saturday — Carl M. Opperman, 31, of Butler faces drug charges after he was found passed out on a planter in front of a business on Pillow Street. In one pants pocket, according to a police report, officers found a syringe; in the other pants pocket, he had a metal spoon with suspected heroin residue.Police said while taking Opperman to the station, he began passing out. At the station, Butler Ambulance Service paramedics administered Narcan, a drug used to counteract heroin overdoses, which helped revive him. He declined further treatment at Butler Memorial Hospital.Opperman, police said, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Tuesday — A Grove City College student reported that his laptop computer was stolen from Hicks Hall on the campus between midnight and 6 a.m. The computer is a Hewlett-Packard Elite Book with a red cover and has the Grove City College logo on it.Anyone with any info is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.Nov. 5 — A dirt bike was reported stolen sometime between 3 p.m. Nov. 4 and 8 a.m. Nov. 5 from the back yard of a home in the 400 block of McConnell Street.Nov. 1 — Police filed theft by deception and bad check charges against James Stevens, 42, of Reading, Berks County, stemming from a bogus check for $159.99 he allegedly passed Aug. 30 at Ace Hardware on West Main Street.Nov. 2 — A burglar broke into Close Auto Sales on North Broad Street and stole cash, checks, 1957 Silver Certificates, and Morgan silver dollars.

2:18 a.m. Saturday — Nick C. Colovos, 25, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a guardrail at Route 8 and Renfrew Road in Penn Township.6:50 a.m. Friday — An unidentified dark blue or black car, possibly a 2011 or 2012 limited edition Chrysler Town & Country van, drove over a slab of sandstone at Butler Stone Craft on North Pike Road in Jefferson Township.Police are investigating the incident as a case of criminal mischief. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.6:40 a.m. Friday — An unidentified gold-colored Pontiac Grand Prix rear-ended another car on Route 422 just east of Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township, and did not stop after the crash. James H. Ball, 42, of Pittsburgh was driving the car that was struck.Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call police.Friday — An unidentified vehicle struck a car in the parking lot of the Pilot convenience store on Route 422 just west of I-79 in Muddy Creek Township. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash that happened between 1 and 10 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police.7:17 a.m. Nov. 1 — Robert D. Pale, 49, of Prospect was hurt when a car sideswiped the pickup truck he was driving on Kelly Road just south of James Lane in Muddy Creek Township. Pale, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police cited Jennifer L. Smith, 50, of Portersville, who was driving the car, with driving too fast for conditions.9 a.m. Oct. 30 — An unidentified vehicle traveled through a yard and struck a fence along Freeport Road in Summit Township. The unknown driver knocked on the door at the home; however, when the resident did not immediately answer, the driver left.Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call police.

11:42 a.m. Saturday — A Templeton woman and child were hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Sloan Hill Road in Rayburn Township. Giselle L. McCoy 28, and the 5-year-old girl, who police did not identify, suffered unknown injuries.The crash happened when a car driven by Brandon M. Testore, 27, of Kittanning struck the car that McCoy was driving.2:13 a.m. Saturday — Jessica C. Forshee, 35, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 422 west of the West Hills exit in East Franklin Township.12:55 p.m. Friday — A minivan driven by Samantha Wiley, 18, of Pittsburgh crashed into a steep embankment on Route 28 at exit 17 in Buffalo Township, Butler County.Friday — Money and jewelry were stolen in a burglary at a home on Ross Street Extension in West Franklin Township. The break-in and theft happened between 2:30 and 9:p.m.

Friday — A burglar stole $750 worth of property from a home on Club Drive in Plain Grove Township. Taken in the break-in between Oct. 1 and Friday was an Oreck vacuum cleaner, Roper dehumidifier, gun safe and a small refrigerator.
