July 19 — Police charged two Gibsonia men with drugged driving stemming from the same traffic stop earlier this month in Worth Township
Tyler E. Thimons, 32, and Kevin D. Letterle, 31, are both charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving and reckless driving. Letterle also is charged with driving with a suspended license.
Police said they found the defendants riding together in a car stopped for erratic driving about 12:20 p.m. July 2 on Interstate 79. Letterle was driving at the time. He appeared “sluggish” and admitted that he had taken Suboxone earlier in the day, according to court documents.
He also advised police that Thimons, a front seat passenger who owns the car, had been driving the vehicle a short time before the traffic stop.
“(Letterle) advised he told (Thimons) to pull over because he was falling asleep behind the wheel and almost crashed,” documents said.
A search of the car turned up drug contraband, including more than 80 empty stamp bags of suspected heroin, two hypodermic needles and a crack pipe.
Both defendants were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for blood tests. Toxicology reports subsequently showed they both had fentanyl, morphine, a metabolite of cocaine and the prescription medication alprazolam in their systems, documents said.
Additionally, Letterle’s blood tested positive for methamphetamine.
