11:56 a.m. Nov. 17 — Police responded to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Route 422 near the Route 68 exit. They said Sonita Sarver, 77, of Butler, drifted her vehicle into the other lane and hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Marsha McLafferty, 73, of Butler. No injuries were reported at the scene, and Sarver was cited.Nov. 17 — Tanisha R. Johnson, 27, of Lyndora, was charged with misdemeanor theft, related to a Sept. 20 incident at Walmart, Butler Township.A store employee told officers a woman pulled a mattress topper of the shelf and returned the item without purchasing it. The employee said the woman left with a gift card valued at about $115.Police identified the woman as Johnson by checking the license plate of the vehicle she left in. Police also compared security footage images to her driver's license photograph.8:41 a.m. Nov. 16 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Mercer Road, Butler Township.A vehicle driven by Destiny Flynn, 20, of Slippery Rock, was stopping for a school bus when it was rear-ended by a vehicle driven by Richard Ealy, 30, of Butler, police said.Ealy and his 1-year-old son were uninjured, but Flynn suffered minor injuries and was taken by Butler Ambulance Service to Butler Memorial Hospital, police said. Ealy was cited for driving without a license, among other traffic violations.6:52 p.m. Nov. 15 — Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on New Castle Road, Butler Township. Christopher Jolly, 33, of Butler, lost control of a pickup truck which then struck a concrete barrier and a hill, according to police. Jolly was uninjured, and the vehicle was towed.
Nov. 20 — Two people were arrested and charged following an investigation into a series of retail thefts, including locations of Home Depot and Walmart, Cranberry Township. Michael T. Devlin, 29, and Janina L. Carriga, 26, both of Pittsburgh, were stopped after leaving with two saws, valued at about $1,301, allegedly without paying from Home Depot.According to police, the two have been linked to seven other retail thefts between the two stores since Nov. 6. Other charges in those thefts are pending.Both are charged with felony retail theft, criminal conspiracy and possessing stolen property, as well as misdemeanor possessing drug paraphernalia.Nov. 18 — Howard G. Rickerd, 61, of McKees Rocks, was charged with misdemeanor making a false statement, after attempting to buy a gun May 30, 2020. Police were notified on Dec. 22 of Rickerd's attempted purchase of a pistol, which was denied due to prior convictions. On the form, Rickerd said he had not been convicted of a crime punishable by one year or more in prison. Police found evidence of a DUI conviction in 2006.
Nov. 22 — Deanna L. Miner, 53, of Saxonburg, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault, related to an altercation Nov. 21. Miner's husband told police his wife assaulted him during an argument.He claimed she scratched his face, kneed him in the stomach and then kicked him while he was on the ground. Police saw a bleeding scratch mark on the husband's face, as well as redness and swelling to his stomach.Nov. 17 — Kenneth P. Dambaugh, 46, of Renfrew, was charged with a first-offense DUI, related to a driver found slumped in his vehicle. Police were passing a used car lot on Route 8, Center Township, when they spotted a vehicle parked and running with its driver slumped behind the wheel. Police said they smelled alcohol as they talked with Dambaugh, and he failed to complete a series of field sobriety tests. Dambaugh later refused to have his breath tested.
