Police Reports

The following items have been collected from various police departments:

Cranberry Twp

Feb. 22 — Donald M. Anthony, 61, of Pittsburgh, was charged with a first offense of driving under the influence related to an incident Dec. 30.

Police said Anthony was found to be impaired after field sobriety tests. Following a blood test, Anthony’s blood-alcohol content level was 0.262%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.

Feb. 18 — Michael K. Bennett, 43, was charged with felony retail theft after police said he attempted to leave Walmart with $1,101 of stolen merchandise. Bennett fled the scene when confronted by a store employee.

Feb. 16 — Wayne M. Pirt, 43, of Cranberry Township, was charged with a first offense DUI after a reported vehicle accident Feb. 4. Police said Pirt caused an accident, left the scene and was later found to be impaired after field tests.

Following a blood test, Pirt’s blood-alcohol content level was 0.235%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.

Feb. 14 — Dwight S. Brown, 25, and Omar G. Williams, 27, of Newark, N.J., were charged with misdemeanors conspiracy and retail theft after police said they left Walmart with $153 worth of merchandise.

Butler Twp

Feb. 22 — Anthony D. Kopas, 40, of Valencia, was charged with misdemeanors criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and harassment, and several summary offenses related to a road rage incident Feb. 18.

Police said Kopas made several abrupt lane changes, nearly collided with a vehicle, then punched another vehicle’s driver’s side mirror.

Feb. 19 — Melissa L. Silk, 44, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanors simple assault and disorderly conduct after police said she repeatedly hit her ex-boyfriend, who recently petitioned a Protection From Abuse Order against her.

Feb. 17 — Colleen L. Christie, 51, of Butler, was charged with felony retail theft after police said she left Walmart with $268 worth of merchandise Dec. 24.

Slippery Rock

Feb. 16 — Devin L. Gilmore, 29, of Grove City, was charged with a first offense DUI on Feb. 9 when police said he was found to be impaired following field tests. Following a blood test, Gilmore’s blood alcohol content level was 0.110%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.

Slippery Rock University

Feb. 17 — Abigail F. Best, 21, of North Huntingdon, was charged with misdemeanor furnishing alcohol to a minor after police said store surveillance footage showed Best purchasing alcoholic items that later were found in a minor’s abandoned vehicle.

State Police, Butler

Feb. 18 — Jesus A. Covarrubias, 28, of Slippery Rock, was charged with a first offense DUI of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana related to an incident in Center Township on Dec. 30.

Police said Covarrubias threw a bag of marijuana at an officer and was found to be impaired after field sobriety tests. Following a blood test, traces of marijuana and cocaine were found in his system, according to police.

Feb. 16 — Anthony R. Genaway, 28, of Chicora, was charged with misdemeanors simple assault and false imprisonment, and summary offenses harassment and criminal mischief-damaged property after police said he engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend while intoxicated. According to reports, Genaway threw her on the ground, prevented her from leaving, and broke her phone in half.

Feb. 22 — Tracy L. Wegrzynek, 48, of Jackson Center, was charged with a third degree misdemeanor for making a false statement on an application for a fire arm in Center Township. Police said Wegrzynek was denied the purchase of a fire arm on June 27, 2020 because of a prior misdemeanor. Wegrzynek answered she had no previous history of said crime.
