10 p.m. Nov. 13 — Franklin W. Goepfert III, 54, of Butler Township, was arrested and charged with misdemeanors of simple assault and criminal mischief, related to a fight at a home on the 500 block of Whitestown Road in Butler Township.Police said officers met with Goepfert's stepbrother, who claimed he was attacked in his home. The stepbrother told officers that Goepfert knocked him to the ground and repeatedly stomped on his face as well as broke items throughout the house.Police said officers saw multiple injuries on the stepbrother, including bleeding, as well as damage to a large TV and a lamp. Police said they found Goepfert walking around in the woods near the home.
Nov. 10 — Darlene Mazza, 57, of Coraopolis, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft, related to items stolen Sept. 13 from Walmart in Cranberry Township.Police said a store employee witnessed Mazza repeatedly sliding her hand under merchandise while she was scanning various items.Police said about $172 worth of items were stolen, but Mazza was stopped by the employee. Police said Mazza admitted to the thefts.Nov. 10 — Richard K. Strother Jr., 28, of Cranberry Township, was charged with criminal mischief, related to a vehicle damaged Aug. 14 in Cranberry Township.Police said they received a call from a woman accusing Strother of harassing her. Police said the woman told officers she was a passenger in a friend's vehicle when Strother started following in a pickup.The woman told officers the vehicles stopped at a traffic light, and Strother tried to get into the car she was in, punching the car in the process. The woman told officers the driver then fled and Strother continued to follow them to various locations.The woman told officers Strother yelled multiple times he was trying to save her from being kidnapped, despite her telling him otherwise. Police said the estimated damage to the vehicle is about $2,854.Nov. 4 — Michael P. Reinhart, 46, of Homestead, was charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest and disorderly conduct related to an Oct. 29 incident at the Cranberry Township Magistrate's Office.Police said Reinhart was brought to the magistrate for a preliminary hearing. Police said following the hearing Reinhart managed to barricade himself in the holding area.Police said he had also thrown chairs and other objects at officers and threatened to kill officers throughout the incident.
9:30 a.m. Nov. 12 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Neupert Road near Winfield Road in Jefferson Township.Police said a vehicle driven by Amber L. Bricker, 34, of Saxonburg, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Daniel L. Ferringer, 34, of Shelocta, Pa.Police said neither driver was injured in the crash, and Bricker was cited accordingly.5:28 p.m. Nov. 10 — Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Main Street near Hemlock Road in Bruin.Police said Robert M. Tirk, 68, of Petrolia, drove his vehicle into a fence. He was not injured, but was cited for leaving the road.Nov. 9 — Gary L. Steighner, 37, of Rimersburg, was charged with one felony and one misdemeanor for making a false statement during a gun purchase, related to a transaction Aug. 31, 2020, at Fenelton Firearms in Clearfield Township.Police said Steighner lied about his criminal history.Nov. 8 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on New Castle Road in Muddy Creek Township.Police said a vehicle driven by a girl, 17, of Herman, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Tyler W. Straub, 31, of Johnstown.Police said there were no injuries involved in the crash, and the girl was cited accordingly.Nov. 8 — Derek L. Salmon, 20, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense DUI following a vehicle crash on the 400 block of North Duffy Road in Center Township.Police said they found a vehicle that had rolled over. Police said they smelled alcohol on Salmon as they spoke, and field sobriety tests showed he was impaired.Police said Salmon admitted to throwing an empty marijuana container into the field before authorities arrived. Police said Salmon then refused chemical testing.6:48 p.m. Nov. 6 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 North at the 96.6 mile marker in Muddy Creek Township.Police said a vehicle driven by Roger M. Ashby, 40, of New Castle, hit a deer, and the vehicle behind him driven by Andrew J. Anderson, 27, was unable to stop in time.Police said Ashby was taken by ambulance to Grove City Medical Center for an injury of unknown severity, and Anderson suffered minor injuries.12:03 p.m. Nov. 6 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on New Castle Road in Franklin Township.Police said a vehicle driven by Samantha M. Blaisdell, 18, of Prospect, rear-ended a vehicle driven by Marcus A. Ballew, 35, of Butler.Police said neither driver was injured in the crash, and Blaisdell was cited accordingly.4:08 p.m. Nov. 3 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on North Pike Road near Winfield Road in Winfield Township.Police said a vehicle driven by Cheryl A. Garvin, 62, of Cabot, turned into a vehicle driven by Kolby K. Durci, 32, of Cabot.Police said Garvin was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital for a possible injury, while Durci was not injured. Police said Garvin was cited accordingly.
12:50 p.m. Nov. 5 — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Route 488 near its intersection with Wright Road in Perry Township, Lawrence County.Police said Harry E. Stewart, 75, of Portersville, drove his vehicle into the back of another vehicle driven by Allen R. Forsythe, 43, of Callery. Police said Forsythe had slowed his vehicle as he was delivering mail. Neither driver was injured, and Stewart was cited accordingly.
