April 20 — Jeffrey W. Brooks, 43, of New Kensington, was charged with theft of leased property after he allegedly failed to return rented tools. Police said Brooks rented about $8,885 worth of tools from True Value in Sarver, but he never returned the items, which he claimed were stolen while in his possession. Police said Brooks never attempted to report the items stolen, and he failed to explain himself to police.
April 20 — Tammy J. Jones, 49, of Butler, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after being arrested for a different matter on April 11. Police said they recognized Jones by her calf tattoos, and they knew she had an active arrest warrant. Police said while arresting her, they found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia in her pockets.April 20 — Rastis O. Marcy, 43, of Butler, was charged with retail theft for an April 6 incident at Branded in Butler.Police said they found Marcy walking on North Chestnut Street wearing a pair of Nike Air Jordan retro high tops, which he later admitted to stealing. The shoes were valued at $320.
April 20 — Lamont A. Franklin, 41, of Butler, was charged with driving under a suspended license. Police said that on April 16, they pulled over Franklin because they recognized him and knew he had a warrant for his arrest. Police arrested him, and while checking his driving record, found his license was suspended.April 20 — Jarron M. Williams, 38, of Lyndora, was charged in two separate cases with retail theft for two incidents, March 15 and March 23, at Sheetz in Butler Township. Police said that in both incidents, Williams took a Red Bull from the cooler, poured it into a slushy and paid at the register only for a slushy.April 20 — Samuel M. Rupp, 34, of Butler, was charged with operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock stemming from a April 3 traffic stop on Hansen Avenue in Butler. Police said conditions on Rupp's DUI-limited license mandate the use of a ignition interlock system, which was not included in the features of the vehicle he was in at the time of the stop.April 20 — Tonya M. Wolfe, 34, of Butler, was charged with simple assault and harassment stemming from an April 19 domestic incident. Police said they arrived and found a man who needed medical attention. Police said the main claimed his wife pushed him twice. Police said the second push sent the man over an air conditioner unit, and he hurt his neck in the fall.April 20 — Ryan J. Piole, 18, of Gibsonia, was charged with simple assault and criminal mischief stemming from a March 27 incident along Route 228 in Cranberry Township. Police said Piole assaulted his friend who had been driving him around. Police said he had used the woman's own pepper spray on her and threw a bottle of water and a milkshake at her.Police said when they arrived at the scene, they found the woman with a reddened, teary face, damp clothes and milkshake in her hair.April 19 — Karl R. Martin, 26, of Cranberry Township, was charged with simple assault and harassment stemming from an April 18 incident. Police are accusing Martin of jumping on his wife and forcing her head against a wooden headboard. Police said the two had slightly conflicting stories, but the wife's injuries appeared to corroborate her version of the events.
Penn TwpApril 20 — Christian A. Manny, 26, of Butler, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident April 11 on at the intersection of Pittsburgh Road and Airport Road.Police said Manny failed to stop for a red light and collided his vehicle into another, but then he continued to drive away.
April 19 — Marcus A. Knier, 22, of Wellsboro, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a April 14 traffic stop on Campus Drive. Police said they stopped Knier because he was swerving and crossing lines on the road. Police said Knier admitted to drinking about 12 Bud Light seltzers, and field sobriety tests indicated Knier was impaired. Police said a breath test showed Knier's blood-alcohol content at 0.221%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.April 19 — Brandon D. McFadden, 21, of Slippery Rock, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from an April 15 traffic stop on Elm Street in Slippery Rock. Police said they stopped the vehicle for failing to use a turn signal. According to police, a later breath test showed McFadden's blood-alcohol content at 0.134%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.
April 21 — Shane M. Schandelmeier, 65, of Prospect, was charged with a first-offense DUI after a single-vehicle crash Feb. 24 on Yellowcreek Road in Muddy Creek Township.Police said Schandelmeier admitted to being drunk. Due to his injuries, Schandelmeier was flown by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment, where also his blood was tested. Police said Schandelmeier's blood-alcohol content was 0.232%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.April 21 — Kamille M. McConnaughy, 24, of New Castle, was charged with a first-offense, controlled-substance DUI after a one-vehicle crash Jan. 16 in Worth Township. Police said they found McConnaughy was the driver of a vehicle that had rolled over, and they believed she had been using marijuana. Police said they found a smoking pipe in the car. Due to her injuries, McConnaughy was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, where her blood was later tested and allegedly showed marijuana in her system.April 21 — Donte L. Calhoun, 31, of New Castle, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and felony criminal use of a communication facility as well as other drug charges. Police said they set up a controlled buy with a confidential informant in January. Police said the informant was monitored as they bought crack cocaine from Calhoun.April 20 — Richard R. Benjamin, 58, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense, controlled substance DUI stemming from a Feb. 21 traffic stop on Pittsburgh Road in Penn Township.Police said blood testing later showed Benjamin had cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl and norfentanyl in his system.April 20 — Robert J. Lane, 45, of Pittsburgh, was charged with a third-offense, controlled substance DUI stemming from an April 8 traffic stop on Route 356 in Buffalo Township. Police said they stopped Lane for crossing lines on the road. Police said during the stop, Lane tried to get out of the vehicle while it was still in drive. Police said Lane agree to field sobriety tests, which indicated he was impaired, but he refused blood testing.April 20 — Kirby A. Hickman, 32, of Renfrew, was charged with a first-offense, controlled substance DUI after a Dec. 21 one-vehicle crash at the intersection of Victory Road and Spring Valley Road in Clinton Township.Police said Hickman denied medical evaluation, but appeared unstable. Police said blood testing later showed cocaine, morphine, fentanyl and norfentanyl in his system.April 20 — Shawn R. Peters, 50, of Cabot, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from an April 10 traffic stop on Constitution Avenue in Jefferson Township. Police said they stopped Peters for making a turn without signalling. Police said Peters admitted to drinking before driving.Police said a later breath tests showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.135%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.April 19 — Francis C. Dunn, 55, of Fenelton was charged with making false reports when he called police on his friend for stealing Dunn's ATM card and pistol. When police arrested the friend, she told police that Dunn had given her the card to buy crack cocaine and the gun was for protection. A witness allegedly affirmed the woman's story. Dunn allegedly admitted that was the case, and police charged him with two misdemeanor counts of false reports.April 19, 7:43 p.m. — Michael A. Marcucci, 35, of East Butler, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and summary charges after he caused a car accident on Grant Avenue and Valvoline Drive with two other vehicles, according to police. When police responded to the accident, they noticed Marcucci had bloodshot eyes. After showing signs of impairment during sobriety tests, police searched him and allegedly found a green metal smoking device and a THC vape cartridge.March 4 — Christopher M. Alcantara, 28, of Chicora allegedly spanked his girlfriend's 3-year-old child on the buttocks as a disciplinary action. Police said the mother of the child was Alcantara's “paramour.” A physician with UPMC reviewed photographs of the injury marks and concluded that the child had “experienced substantial pain” and that the injuries were consistent with physical abuse. Police concluded that the use of physical force was not justifiable and charged him with a misdemeanor simple assault.
