March 30 — Mark Homnick, 60, of Glenshaw, Pa., was charged with first-offense driving under the influence, police said.According to documents, police were responding to a complaint of a reckless driver when they encountered Homnick, who they believed was impaired.Police said they asked Homnick to perform field sobriety tests, which he refused. Police said Homnick told them, “I know you guys are doing your job, but I can't do these — I'm drunk.”According to police, a blood test later showed Homnick's blood-alcohol content at 0.287%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.

March 29 — Rose M. Comly, 53, of Butler, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.According to police, they initiated a traffic stop on Comly, who was driving under a suspended license. As the traffic stop was occurring, Comly backed into another vehicle.Police said they arrested her passenger, Hannah L. Steighner, 24, of Lyndora, because she had an active warrant from Clarion County.Police said they also talked with Comly and during a search of her, they found seven doses of Buprenorphine and naloxone strips.March 25 — Steven F. Shoop, 35, of Rochester, Pa., was charged with possession of a controlled substance.According to police, officers were dispatched to North McKean Street for drug activity.According to documents, police found an overdosed female in a truck, who was treated, and police talked with people nearby, which is when they came in contact with Shoop.Police said they found seven stamp bags filled with a white substance. The alleged drugs were collected and sent to a lab for testing.

3:32 a.m. April 1 — Police responded to a two-vehicle wreck at a Route 8 intersection in Butler Township.Police said Marissa Schielein, 26, of Chicora, was driving on Route 8010, when she hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Yvonne Sabol, 49, of Butler.Police said Sabol reported a minor head injury. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.April 1 — An argument between a husband and wife at the Days Inn ended in charges for both.Scott A. Cressley, 56, and Tamara S. Cressley, 49, both of Natrona Heights, were charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Tamara Cressley also was charged with resisting arrest.Police said the couple was drunk and fighting in the hotel when they arrived, and when hotel staff asked them to leave, they made no attempt to do so. Police arrested them both for the above charges, and during her arrest, Tamara Cressley tried to push away from officers multiple times.6:02 p.m. March 20 — Virginia McCracken, 74, of Butler, was charged with retail theft after police responded to Walmart in Butler Township for a woman who was stopped by store employees for allegedly stealing 19 items valued at $116.

April 3 — Alexander-Halim D. Barakat, 21, of McLean, Va., was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a two-vehicle accident April 2 near the intersection of Route 228 and Route 19 in Cranberry Township.Police said Barakat tried to make a left-hand turn where it was prohibited, which caused the wreck. Police said Barakat had bloodshot eyes and slurred his speech.Police said they arrested Barakat after he refused to perform field sobriety tests, and he later refused to have his blood drawn for testing.

March 31 — David A. Meadows, 32, of Coconut Creek, Fla., was charged with disorderly conduct and retail theft.According to documents, police were called to the Dollar General in Saxonburg for a disturbance. Police said employees relayed accounts that Meadows stole about $150 worth of items from the store.Police said employees tried to stop him and ask him about the items, but he became belligerent and left.

April 5 — Brandon M. Anderson, 22, of Butler, was charged with a third-offense DUI stemming from a March 6 traffic stop on Mercer Road in Center Township.According to documents, police stopped Anderson because he crossed lines on the road. Police said while speaking with Anderson, they smelled alcohol, and it was revealed his license was suspended for two previous DUI convictions this year.According to documents, Anderson showed signs of impairment during field sobriety testing. Police said blood tests later showed Anderson's blood-alcohol content at 0.25%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.April 5 — Robert L. Miller, 48, of Hilliards, was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct among other charges stemming from a domestic dispute.According to documents, police responded to an Oakland Township home, where they interviewed the accuser. Police said the accuser told them Miller was arguing with two other people, when he brandished a knife and threatened them.Police said the accuser's story was corroborated by the other two people.April 1 — John Henry Sheakley Fox, 29, of Butler, was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment stemming from a March 31 disturbance call.Police said they interviewed a woman at the Butler City Police Station who alleged Fox hit her. Police said the accuser told them she and Fox were arguing when he pushed her to the ground, then grabbed her by the hair and pulled her to the wall.According to documents, the accuser alleges Fox hit her head of the wall multiple times, which caused her vision to be blurry and for her to have difficulty speaking for the rest of the day.March 31 — Mark E. Lutz, 51, of Boyers, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a Feb. 26 one-vehicle accident on Houston Lane in Slippery Rock Township.Police said when they arrived at the scene, they found Lutz's vehicle with its wheels locked up. Police said Lutz smelled of alcohol.According to police, Lutz showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test. Police said a later blood test showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.179%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 31 — Michael W. Kline, 36, of Mars, was charged with a first-offense DUI stemming from a one-vehicle crash March 28 on Mars Evans City Road in Callery.Police said when they arrived, they found Kline's vehicle crashed into shrubs. Police said Kline initially blamed the accident on a deer, but he also admitted to drinking three or four shots and a few beers.According to documents, Kline was taken to the barracks for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol content at 0.163%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 30 — Jerry A. Higley, 28, of Prospect, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, false identification to law enforcement and obstructing law enforcement among other charges.According to police, troopers initiated a traffic stop March 19 on Jefferson Street. Police said Higley was the driver of the vehicle, and he lied about his identity during the stop.Police said also during the stop, they found crack cocaine. Police said there was also a warrant for his arrest regarding a parole violation.He was arrested and taken to Butler County Prison.March 26 — John J. Shiring, 65, of Butler, was charged with a second-offense DUI stemming from a two-vehicle accident March 25 on the Interstate 79 off-ramp to Zelienople.Police said when they arrived, they found Shiring, who smelled of alcohol and was falling asleep while sitting in his vehicle. Police said Shiring showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests.According to documents, a breath test showed Shiring's blood-alcohol content at 0.263%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.March 25 — Kierra J. Boyd, 22, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense controlled substance DUI stemming from a Feb. 25 traffic stop on Beaver Dam Road in Clay Township.According to police, they stopped Boyd because a taillight was burned out. Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle.According to police, Boyd appeared impaired based on field sobriety tests, and later blood tests revealed marijuana in her system.March 25 — Cindy L. Anderson, 40, of Butler, was charged with a first-offense DUI involving a controlled substance stemming from a Feb. 12 traffic stop on South Monroe Street in Butler.According to police, they stopped Anderson because she turned at a red light when signage said otherwise. Police said Anderson admitted to using heroin.Police said a blood test revealed a list of drugs in Anderson's system, including methamphetamine, cocaine, marijuana and fentanyl, among other prescription drugs.
