Monday — Larry A. Alexander, 48, of Butler, was charged with taking a video game system, valued at $299, that was delivered Dec. 26 in a package to an apartment on the 200 block of North Main Street. The alleged theft was captured on surveillance video.Police later found Alexander, according to court documents, and he admitted to taking the system. Officers recovered the gaming system at the defendant's apartment, and it was returned to the victim. Alexander is charged with theft.2:15 a.m. Saturday — Jamel A. Barnes, 31, of Butler, allegedly assaulted an ex-girlfriend at a home on the 400 block of Zeigler Avenue.The victim told police that she was standing outside her car at a friend's house when Barnes approached her and “ripped her cellphone from her hand and smashed it,” according to court documents. Barnes then allegedly grabbed her by the shirt and shoved her against the car, causing her pain in the upper back.Police charged Barnes with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief.Jan. 26 — Police charged Michael Beck II, 33, and Barbara A. Beck, 65, both of Butler, with simple assault stemming from an incident earlier in the month at a home on West Brady Street.Michael Beck is accused of punching another man at the home and slamming the man's head into a concrete wall on Jan. 17. Barbara Beck is accused of spraying oleoresin capsicum, or OC — similar to mace or pepper spray — into the eyes and face of another woman at the home.Butler Ambulance Service was called to treat the woman for OC spray exposure, police said.

1:53 a.m. Sunday — Wade E. Geer, 43, of Butler, was arrested after he allegedly caused a disturbance and vandalized property at the Fairfield Inn off Route 8 north.Police were called to the hotel for a report of the defendant trying to break doors to rooms there, according to court documents. Geer is accused of breaking the main lobby doors. Damage was estimated at $2,000.District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Geer on misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, and he was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond.4:47 p.m. Jan. 24 — Maria J. Slick, 23, of Butler, allegedly was caught shoplifting 32 items of merchandise, valued at $266.20, at the Butler Commons' Walmart. She is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.

7:27 p.m. Saturday — A 33-year-old Renfrew man was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his pickup on Ash Stop Road in Forward Township. Police did not release the name of the driver. Neither he nor his passenger was injured.4:03 p.m. Saturday — Madison B. Edwards, 18, of Parker, was injured when she lost control of her car and struck a tree along Route 268 just east of Interstate 80 in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.1:47 p.m. Jan. 29 — A Mack truck driven by Samuel W. Thompson, 65, of Slippery Rock, sideswiped a sport utility vehicle while changing lanes on Route 68 just west of South Eberhart Road in Butler Township. Elizabeth L. Pocchiari, 53, of Butler, was the other driver. No injuries were reported.12:07 p.m. Jan. 29 — No one was injured when a car driven by a 17-year-old Slippery Rock girl crashed on Staff Road just east of Muddy Creek Drive in Brady Township. Police did not release the name of the teenager, who was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Jan. 29 — Police charged Jocelyn M. Daugherty, 22, of Butler Township, with being more than two-and-a-half times the state's legal limit for alcohol stemming from traffic stop earlier in the month in Butler. She was stopped around 11:10 p.m. Jan. 20 in the area of South Monroe and East Cunningham streets.Daugherty later was taken for a breath test, which showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.21 percent, according to court documents. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.She is charged with DUI, driving with no headlights and careless driving.10:30 a.m. Jan. 28 — Colby J. McClelland, 23, of East Butler, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a tree along Valvoline Drive just east of Linwood Drive in Summit Township. The car had to be towed. Charges are pending, police said.9:44 a.m. Jan. 28 — Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Forward Township. The crash occurred when a sport utility vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Evans City boy crossed the double yellow lines on Route 68 just east of Old Route 68 and struck a car driven by Frances A. Kelley, 64, of Wexford.Kelley was taken by Harmony Ambulance to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with unknown injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Police did not release the name of the boy, who suffered an apparent minor injury.A police report said the boy was cited for driving too fast for conditions.6:16 p.m. Jan. 16 — Misty L. Sofi, 40, of Hilliards, lost control of her pickup truck on snow-covered Route 308 just south of Branchton Road in Cherry Township and struck a tree head-on. She was not injured. Police cited Sofi for driving too fast for conditions.

7:35 p.m. Sunday — Darlene F. Cotherman, 45, of Emlenton, lost control of her sport utility vehicle on snow-covered Interstate 80 west near exit 53 on-ramp in Beaver Township and struck a guardrail. She and her passengers, two children, ages 2 and 11, were not injured.

7:32 p.m. Sunday — Frank Miller, 50, of Sarver, is suspected of drunken driving after police were called for a disabled motorist on Watersonvillle Road in Washington Township. Police said charges of driving under the influence are pending.3:55 a.m. Jan. 27 — A car driven by David A. Jones, 35, of Kittanning, struck a deer on Route 28 north just east of Cadogan Slate Lick Road in North Buffalo Township. Jones was not injured.
