4:33 p.m. Wednesday — Joel D. Sack, 61, of Renfrew lost control of his vehicle and struck a curb on North Eberhart Road near Route 66. The vehicle was towed.
Dec. 10 — A 16-year-old boy from the George Junior Republic juvenile detention facility in Pine Township was charged with stealing a vehicle from a home on the 200 block of Jackson Street. This incident happened sometime during the late night hours, police said. The vehicle was later recovered in Butler County.Police did not release the name of the boy, who faces pending charges of theft and receiving stolen property in Mercer County juvenile court.
8:08 a.m. Thursday — No one was injured when Malissa N. Styslinger, 24, of Sarver lost control of her sport utility vehicle and spun sideways across the road and into a guardrail on Route 356 just north of Old Pike Lane in Jefferson Township. The vehicle also ran onto the property of a home and struck a People's Gas utility meter.3:05 p.m. Wednesday — Michael R. Eicholtz, 53, of Butler was injured when he lost control of his car and slid into a tree along Valencia Road in Forward Township. He was taken to UPMC Passavant hospital in Cranberry Township with unknown injuries.Police said Eicholtz's car had to be towed. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions and disregarding traffic lanes.1:55 p.m. Wednesday — No one was injured when a car driven by Aliah K. Espinosa, 20, of Grove City struck a guardrail on Interstate 79 south in Worth Township. The car had to be towed.12:16 p.m. Wednesday — Sandra M. Bedell, 56, of Butler was hurt when she was unable to stop for a slowing vehicle and steered off the road and into a utility pole along Route 8 just east of Lakeview Drive in Center Township. Police said she suffered an apparent minor injury.11:40 a.m. Wednesday — Jamie L. Ball, 40, of Mars lost control of her sport utility vehicle and struck an embankment on I-79 south in Lancaster Township. She was not injured, but her vehicle had to be towed.Tuesday — Darci A. Huet, 41, of Butler was charged with having crack cocaine in connection with a traffic stop last month in Butler. Police said she was a passenger in the vehicle around 2:35 a.m. Nov. 29 at West North and North Chestnut streets.While investigating the incident, police asked the defendant to open her mouth to check for drugs. Huet spit out “a small bag of suspected crack cocaine,” according to court documents.She is charged with possession of a controlled substance.Tuesday — Korday L. Benjamin, 19, of Butler was charged with drugged driving and having marijuana stemming from a traffic stop last month in Butler.Police said Benjamin showed impairment during field sobriety tests and he admitted to having recently smoked marijuana. He was searched, according to court documents, and found with suspected marijuana.Police later took the defendant to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which allegedly indicted that he had marijuana in his system.In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Benjamin is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, careless driving and two lighting violations.
