11:05 a.m. Friday — Andrew J. Hoy, 26, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly struck a woman's arm during a domestic dispute at a home on the 200 block of Fifth Avenue. He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and later placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bond.

Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating a possible burglary earlier this month at Clearview Mall's Rural King store in Center Township. Surveillance video, according to a police report, showed two white males inside the store around 10 p.m. Nov. 1.It was not immediately known if any items were taken or how the suspects got into the store. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Monday — Erik S. McDonald, 40, of Petrolia was arraigned on charges that he illegally tried to buy a rifle in May at a Clearview Mall store in Center Township. Police said he provided false information on background forms May 1 when he tried to buy the gun at Rural King.McDonald was arraigned on a felony charge of unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm and a misdemeanor charge of unsworn falsification to authorities. He was released on his own recognizance following arraignment.4:49 p.m. Sunday — Edward A. Whyte, 53, of Parker escaped injury after a tree branch fell and struck the pickup truck he was driving on Route 268 just south of Bluff Road in Parker, Armstrong County. Police said the branch became stuck in the windshield. The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department assisted police.5:46 p.m. Saturday — Kara J. Deprano, 41, of Boyers was injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Center Township. The crash occurred when a pickup driven by a 17-year-old East Brady boy ran a red light and struck the car Deprano was driving, trapping her inside.Unionville volunteer firefighters were called and extricated Deprano from her vehicle. She was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital with suspected serious injuries, according to a police report. The boy and his passenger, a 16-year-old Petrolia girl, were not injured.Police did not release the name of the boy, who was cited for the crash. Both vehicles had to be towed. The West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department also assisted at the scene.2:56 a.m. Saturday — Jennifer R. Gordon, 41, of Butler was arrested for driving under the influence after a traffic stop in Butler. She was stopped on Whippo Avenue after a police check determined that the registration on the vehicle was expired.Police said Gordon showed impairment during field sobriety tests. She is accused of refusing to place her hands behind her back to allow police to take her into custody, according to court documents. She resisted as an officer pulled her hands behind her, police said.Gordon was arraigned on charges of DUI, resisting arrest, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle with suspended registration, driving without a license, driving a vehicle without insurance and without inspection, and driving a vehicle with an open container of alcohol. She is free on $15,000 bail.12:01 a.m. Saturday — A Florida man was arrested on an out-of-county warrant and for allegedly having marijuana and other contraband following a traffic stop in Butler.Police said the defendant, James Myers, 27, of Melborne, was a passenger in a car that was pulled over on North Main Street near West Pearl Street for having a faulty brake light. They learned that Myers was wanted on a warrant in Allegheny County, according to court documents.He was searched, police said, and found with a marijuana pipe and a marijuana vape. He also had a jar of medical marijuana, containers of THC wax and other drug-related items in his backpack, documents said.Myers was arraigned on two counts of possession of a small amount of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bond.1:22 p.m. Friday — A western New York woman lost control of a car and struck guardrails on both sides of Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township. Brooke C. Testa, 24, of Rochester told police that the accident occurred when she got scared of a truck while traveling in the left, northbound lane. The truck was in the right lane.Testa's car hit the guardrail on the west side of the road. She then overcompensated, according to a police report, and drove into the guardrail on the east side of the road. She was not injured, but her car had to be towed. Police cited her for disobeying traffic control devices.

Monday — A thief used a 50-year-old Irwin Township, Venango County, woman's identity to file for unemployment compensation. The same unknown suspect used the victim's name to open three accounts with a Richmond, Va.-based bank. “All three accounts have been overdrawn,” a police report noted.Police said the investigation into the case of theft by deception/identity theft is continuing.
