2:13 p.m. July 2 — Michael L. Smith Jr., 28, of Pittsburgh, was arrested after he allegedly slammed his girlfriend to the ground during a domestic dispute at the Greenview Garden Apartments. The victim suffered a minor injury to her left arm.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Smith on a charge of simple assault. He is free on $1,000 bail.

[naviga:h3]Adams Twp Police[/naviga:h3]

June 17 — Bradley L. Balmert, 37, of Adams Township, was charged with being more than three times the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a January rollover crash on Warrendale Road. Balmert suffered facial cuts in the wreck, which left his sport utility vehicle on its roof, but he was able to get out on his own.

He subsequently was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for treatment of his injuries. Police later obtained a search warrant for Balmert’s medical records, which included a blood draw for testing, which allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.25 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with driving too fast for conditions, careless driving and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.

6:23 p.m. June 14 — Douglas G. Linn II, 70, of Adams Township, was arrested for DUI on the 200 block of Adams Pointe Boulevard. Police said they found him in the driver’s seat of a car, possibly passed out.

Linn subsequently was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for a blood test, which allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.262 percent. He is charged with DUI.

1:18 p.m. Friday — Surenu E. Frank, 34, and Amber D. Selfridge, 41, both of Butler, were allegedly found at the Walmart at Butler Commons after they previously had been given notice they were not allowed at the store. Police cited both women for defiant trespass.

July 1 — Gilmore A. Hillard, 56, of Butler, was allegedly caught with alleged marijuana and a marijuana pipe after police were called for an altercation between two men on the 500 block of Kendall Avenue. He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

[naviga:h3]Butler County Sheriff’s Office[/naviga:h3]

June 12 — Jonathan A. Lubinsky, 37, of Butler, was allegedly found with several Xanax pills, for which he did not have a prescription, at Butler Memorial Hospital. The Sheriff’s Office was guarding Lubinsky while he was in the hospital. They also had a warrant out of the office. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

1:58 a.m. Saturday — A Florida man was arrested after police said he ran into the woods during a traffic stop on Saw Mill Road in Butler Township. Troopers chased after and caught Michael A. McDonald, 33, of Myakka City, and forcibly took him into custody about 100 yards into the wooded area.

Police said they suspected McDonald was driving under the influence after he was stopped. He later told police that he fled due to there being a bench warrant for him in the county, according to court documents.

A breath test subsequently allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.108 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned him on charges of resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension, driving under the influence and failing to keep right. He was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $3,000 bond following arraignment.

6:28 p.m. Friday — No one was injured when a pickup driven by Simon P. Duffy, 71, of Forestville, struck a trailer and boat being towed by another pickup on Route 8 in Clay Township. William J. Knass, 59, of Butler, was the other driver.

The crash occurred when Duffy apparently fell asleep while traveling north and drifted into the opposing lane. Knass, who was headed south, according to a police report, took evasive action, but Duffy’s truck struck the trailer and boat. Police said the collision disconnected the trailer from Knass’ truck and was launched over the east side embankment.

2:40 p.m. Friday — Paul E. Winters, 54, of Pittsburgh, lost control of his car after swerving to avoid a large piece of furniture on Interstate 79 south in Cranberry Township and struck a ditch. The car rolled over one time and ended against a concrete culvert.

Winters was not injured, but his car had to be towed.

Friday — Police cited Franklin W. Goepfert, 53, of Butler, for disorderly conduct and defiant trespass stemming from an incident last month on Sunset Drive in Center Township. A property owner, a 25-year-old man, told police that he caught the defendant looking into vehicles.

The man confronted Goepfert, according to a police report, and asked him to leave. Goepfert allegedly became hostile and refused to leave. The victim had to “physically push Goepfert off the property,” the report said.

7:03 a.m. Thursday — Luke R. Hanagan, 20, of Beaver, lost control of his car and struck an embankment on Mahood Road at Shroyer Mill Road in Center Township. The car ended on its passenger side. Hanagan was not injured.

5:12 p.m. July 1 — No one was injured when a car driven by Alexander J. Knaby, 26, of Grove City, struck the back of another car on Route 8 in Center Township. Alexis N. Hopper, 19, of Butler, was the other driver. Police cited Knaby for following too closely to another vehicle.

9:48 p.m. June 28 — An SUV driven by Kristopher F. Heeter, 26, of Emlenton, struck an embankment on Route 268 about one-half mile north of Route 58 in Hovey Township, Armstrong County. He was not injured. The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Police cited Heeter for disregarding traffic lanes.

2:52 a.m. June 28 — Robert Murray, 57, of Prospect, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Prospect Road in Connoquenessing Township. He refused a breath test, police said.

June 28 — An unknown suspect damaged two exterior doors at an unoccupied home June 27 or 28 on Westward Lane in Franklin Township. The damage was estimated at $400.

June 25 — Furniture valued at $2,500 was reported stolen from a home on Hughes Road in Venango Township. Taken in the burglary, police said, were two rocking chairs, a table, another chair and a coffee table. A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects.

[naviga:h3]State Police, New Castle[/naviga:h3]

10:31 a.m. June 30 — One person was injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. Police said Janet L. Pollman, 67, of New Castle, one of the drivers, suffered minor injuries. Anthony J. Sbarra, 75, of New Castle, was the other driver.

Sbarra and Pollman were headed in opposite directions when his pickup and her car collided on Princeton Road. Both vehicles had to be towed. Both drivers were cited for driving on the wrong side of the road. Sbarra also was cited for driving a vehicle without insurance.
