1:44 a.m. Tuesday — Louie S. Ryder, 55, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a woman and broke her cellphone during a domestic dispute at his apartment on North Cedar Street. Police said the victim suffered unknown injuries on her arm.

District Judge Bill O’Donnell arraigned Ryder on charges of simple assault and criminal mischief. Ryder later was placed in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond.

8:24 p.m. April 25 — Mannon L. Rose, 31, of Butler was arrested after police say he assaulted his girlfriend in a vehicle traveling between Holcombe and Center avenues.

The victim told police that Rose punched her in the mouth at least three times, according to court documents. He was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and released on nonmonetary bond.

4:50 p.m. Thursday — No one was injured when a vehicle driven by Nicholas Cook, 26, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on New Castle Road near Point Plaza. Robert Everhart, 64, of Kittanning was the other driver.

Police said Cook fled the scene. A short time later, according to a police report, officers found him, and his vehicle, at his home.

Police said Cook is facing charges of hit-and-run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, driving a vehicle without insurance, driving a vehicle without valid inspection and driving too fast for conditions.

[naviga:h3]Slippery Rock Police[/naviga:h3]

April 29 — Police charged a York County woman with failing to turn over a $1,150.50 check from her insurance company to the Slippery Rock Fire Company and Rescue Team stemming from a medical call last year.

Donna E. Taylor-Lockwood, 48, of York is charged with a first-degree count of theft by failing to make required disposition of funds.

The rescue team was called about 11:30 a.m. Oct. 18 to Iron Mountain in Cherry Township for an unspecified medical issue and later took Taylor-Lockwood to Grove City Medical Center, police said. On Dec. 16, according to court documents, she cashed a check she received from her insurance company that she was supposed to forward to the ambulance service.

Ambulance officials told police they made several unsuccessful attempts to contact her, and they sent her a certified letter seeking payment but to no avail.

8:58 p.m. Friday — Matthew J. Fritz, 20, and Ethan J. Mathews, 19, both of Middlesex Township, were arrested after they allegedly broke into the former Muddy Creek Portersville Elementary School on East Portersville Road.

Police said they were called to the building, which is gated, and found both men there. Fritz and Mathews told police that they entered the building by climbing the gutters onto the porch roof and going through an open window, according to court documents.

The suspects acknowledged they did not have permission to be there, documents said, but they “heard it was a good place to explore.”

District Judge Bill O’Donnell arraigned Fritz and Mathews on felony charges of burglary and trespass and a summary charge of defiant trespass. Each defendant is free on $10,000 unsecured bond.

April 20 — Grace E. Rudish, 18, of Slippery Rock was charged with drugged driving in connection with a stop for speeding last month in Muddy Creek Township. She was pulled over March 9, police said, for traveling 79 mph in a 55-mph zone on Route 422 near Pleasant Valley Road.

Police later took her to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test that showed she had marijuana in her system.

Rudish is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

1:05 a.m. April 26 — An all-terrain vehicle driven by Ryan T. Oesterling, 20, of Chicora struck a utility pole along Route 268 in Sugarcreek Township. He was evaluated by a Sugarcreek EMS crew for injuries at the scene but refused transport to the hospital.
