Monday — Steven L. Bowser, 35, of Center Township, was charged with drunken driving stemming from a call last month for a man passed out in a pickup truck at a gas station parking lot on East Jefferson Street. Police said they found Bowser about 5:35 a.m. March 29 slumped over the steering wheel of the truck, with the engine running.

Officers applied the safety brake and awakened the defendant. On the passenger side floor, police said, officers later noticed an empty can of beer.

Bowser was eventually arrested for driving under the influence, according to court documents, but he refused to take a breath test.

Monday — Sydney L. Johnson, 18, was charged with punching his mother in the face and chest during a domestic dispute April 6 at his home on Gibson Street in Eau Claire. He is charged with simple assault and harassment.

Monday — Police charged Curtis C. Gadd, 30, with hitting a man in the head with a metal pot April 4 at his home on Dessa Lane in Concord Township. The incident happened during an apparent altercation between the men. The victim, police said, suffered a cut. Gadd is charged with simple assault.

Monday — Darrion N. Rettig, 22, of East Butler, was charged with drugged driving stemming from a call last month for a suspected intoxicated man in a car at the drive-through of the Sheetz store on Route 8 in Center Township.

Police said they got there about 4:45 a.m. March 29 and found Rettig. He later handed over a small baggie containing suspected marijuana and a smoking pipe, according to court documents.

The defendant was subsequently taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.116 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Rettig is charged with driving under the influence, and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
