2:34 p.m. Friday — Gary R. Koval, 38, of Butler was allegedly found with a stamp bag of suspected heroin and a syringe after a call for an intoxicated man at Alameda Plaza on New Castle Road. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Friday — Arrest warrants were issued for an Armstrong County couple accused of shoplifting items valued at $2,206 at the Butler Commons' Target store in November. The merchandise was taken on three separate days within a week. Charged with felony counts of retail theft, conspiracy and receiving stolen property are Gregory R. Ausk, 40, and Heather M. Oldfield, 42, both of West Leechburg.
Dec. 30 — Crystal R. Pakutz, 27, of Oakland Township was charged with driving on drugs and having four dozen prescription pills in connection with an October traffic stop on Center Avenue. Police said they stopped Pakutz Oct. 5 for a window tint violation.
A subsequent search, court documents said, turned up a pain reliever bottle in her pants. In the bottle were 48 pills for which she allegedly did not have prescriptions.
A blood test later found that she had five different drugs in her system, documents said, including gabapentin, amphetamine, methadone, hydrocodone and oxycodone.
Pakutz is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, failing to notify authorities of a change of address and driving a vehicle with improper sunscreening.
9:53 a.m. Sunday — No one was injured when a van caught fire on Route 38 in Oakland Township. The driver, Chandler J. Bailey, 20, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, told police that the van was losing transmission fluid when the fire started.The Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department assisted and the vehicle was later towed away.1:07 a.m. Sunday — William McCollums, 26, of New Castle is facing charges of harassment and criminal mischief after police say he got into a fight with a 27-year-old East Brady woman at the Oil Boom Saloon on Main Street in Petrolia. During the altercation, McCollums is accused of breaking a front window at the bar. Damage was estimated at $100.12:43 a.m. Dec. 28 — Monique T. Compton, 33, of Butler was arrested for alleged drunken driving on West Cunningham Street near Papa John’s Pizza in Butler. Police said they also saw a bag of suspected marijuana and a marijuana pipe in plain view.A breath test later showed her blood-alcohol level at 0.14 percent, according to court documents. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Compton is charged with driving under the influence, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, driving without headlights on and careless driving.
