POLICE REPORTS
Monday — Harry T. Deer III, 28, was arrested on charges he assaulted his live-in girlfriend's toddler son at the couple's home on the 800 block of East Jefferson Street, leaving the 2-and-a-half-year-old boy with bruises and welts on his buttocks last month.
Deer was arraigned on a felony charge of child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of simple assault. He was later released on nonmonetary bond.
Police said they began the child abuse investigation Oct. 29 after learning of the child's injuries. They were subsequently advised of the victim's diagnosis at Butler Memorial Hospital of ecchymosis and abrasions on the buttocks, according to court documents.
During a police interview Nov. 7, Deer “acknowledged that he may have struck (the boy) too hard in the buttocks for wrestling with (the child's older) brother,” documents said.
11:20 p.m. Tuesday—Slippery road conditions were blamed for a one-car crash in Clinton Township. The wreck happened when Courtney R. Drum, 21, of Tarentum, Allegheny County lost of her car on Route 228 just west of Brewer Road.Police noted that the road was slick from a heavy mist. The back end of the car swung around causing the vehicle to travel off the road before overturning and landing on its roof.Drum, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt. Her car had to be towed. The Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company assisted police with traffic control.5:45 p.m. Tuesday — Dean C. Lawrence, 51, of Zelienople was injured when a car rear-ended the sport utility vehicle he was driving on Route 422 just west of Whipporwill Road in Franklin Township. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.The other driver, Allie C. Palmer, 20, of Slippery Rock, was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Police cited Palmer for following too closely to another vehicle and driving too fast for conditions.Monday — A Venango County man was charged with being more than three times the state’s legal limit for alcohol in connection with a Nov. 6 traffic stop in Center Township. Police said they made the stop around 9:30 p.m. after Joseph G. Green, 56, of Franklin pulled into the parking lot at Seneca Auto Sales on Route 8 near Benbrook Road.A subsequent breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.258 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, Green is charged with disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.7:20 p.m. Nov. 11 — Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Brady Township. The collision occurred when Wanda M. Wallace, 72, of Butler pulled her car from a parking lot on Route 8 and into the path of an SUV driven by Gabrielle I. Reyer, 21, of Fombell, Beaver County.Wallace suffered an unknown injury. Reyer suffered an apparent minor injury. Both women were wearing seat belts.
