Monday — Joseph J. Miller, 40, was arraigned on charges that he assaulted his wife during a domestic dispute at 9 a.m. Monday at their home on the 300 block of Second Street.

The victim told police that Miller slapped her in the face and tackled her, according to court documents. Police said she had redness and swelling on the right side of her face, a cut on her inner lip and an abrasion to her left arm.

Miller was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and given a nonmonetary bond.

2:35 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Ashley N. Heeter, 25, of Butler struck a bear on Route 38 just south of Dessa Lane in Clay Township. Heeter was not injured, but her Subaru Crosstrek had to be towed.The police report did not indicate the fate of the bear.8:07 a.m. Monday — Two people were injured when a car driven by Matthew M. Mushrush, 40, of Grove City rear-ended another car on Route 8 just north of Sunset Drive in Center Township.The other driver, Jessica A. Masters, 38, and her passenger, Elbert Masters, 37, both of Polk, Venango County, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Both cars had to be towed.Police cited Mushrush for driving with a suspended license, two vehicle registration violations, driving a vehicle without insurance, following too closely to another vehicle, driving too fast for conditions and careless driving.10:56 a.m. Monday — Three people, two of them children, were injured in a two-vehicle wreck in Concord Township. The crash occurred when a car driven by Tiffany L. Lowers, 31, of North Washington rear-ended a pickup truck driven by Grant D. Harmon, 36, of Butler.Lowers and her passengers, a girl, 3, and a boy, 5, suffered unknown injuries. Lowers was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital and the children were taken to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.Lowers' car had to be towed. Police cited her for driving too fast for conditions, careless driving and two restraint system violations.3:24 p.m. Sept. 20 — One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Slippery Rock Township. The wreck occurred when a car driven by Nathan M. Colosimo, 21, of Boyers rear-ended another car on Route 173 just north of Kelly Boulevard.Colosimo's passenger, Haylee D. Dixon, 21, of Philipsburg, Centre County, suffered minor injuries to her right foot. Neither Colosimo nor the other driver, Lawrence Feevey, 75, of Slippery Rock, was injured.Police cited Colosimo for following too closely to another vehicle.

5:45 p.m. Saturday — Both drivers were injured, one badly, in a suspected drunken driving crash in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County.Alexander R. Miller, 34, of New Castle was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. He also suffered minor injuries. The other driver, Dawn M. Caminite, 54, of Ellwood City, was taken to an unspecified hospital with serious injuries.Police said the crash occurred when Miller lost control of his pickup truck and crossed into the oncoming lane on Route 422 just east of Mill Bridge Road, colliding head-on with Caminite’s car. The truck ended on its side.
