Friday — Darrion N. Rettig, 21, of East Butler was charged with being more than two-and-a-half times the state's legal limit for alcohol stemming from a crash earlier this month on Morton Avenue.
Police said Rettig's car drove through a wooden fence and struck the corner of a house. He attempted to back up, but was stopped by a brick fire pit, according to court documents. The defendant and his passenger said they were not hurt.
Rettig allegedly admitted that he was drinking earlier that night. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test that indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.221 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.
He is charged with driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lanes, reckless driving and driving at an unsafe speed.
Friday — Police charged a Beaver County man with bouncing a check for $608.44 at a city business earlier this month. Kyle A. Spanos, 31, of Freedom is accused of passing the check May 8 at DuBrook Inc. on Bantam Avenue.
The check, according to court documents, was written on a closed account. Spanos is charged with theft by deception and bad checks.
11:46 a.m. Friday — Dale H. Whipkey, 60, was arrested after he allegedly punched his daughter during an incident at his home on Elmwood Lane in Clay Township.Police said he admitted to punching her twice in the face. Troopers eventually had to take Whipkey to the ground, according to court documents, when he refused to remain seated on the front bumper of a cruiser.The victim told police that the assault was unprovoked. She recounted that he “simply walked into her room and punched her,” documents said. She had swelling to the right eye, police said.Whipkey was arraigned on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.
1:28 a.m. Monday — A 25-year-old Slippery Rock woman was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Mercer Grove City Road in Pine Township. Police did not identify the woman, citing the ongoing investigation.
