Tuesday — Heather B. Weston, 28, of West Sunbury was charged in a shoplifting incident May 10 at the Butler Commons' Walmart. She is accused of removing 44 items valued at a combined $336.84. Police noted that she was previously banned from the store for another incident. Weston is charged with misdemeanor retail theft and summary trespassTuesday — Police charged Corey L. Wagner, 45, of Butler with misdemeanor retail theft for allegedly taking $223.64 in merchandise May 12 at Butler Commons' Walmart.7:30 p.m. May 13 — Nickolas D. Stine, 39, of Renfrew was allegedly caught with marijuana and other drug contraband following a traffic stop at Whitestown Road and Route 68. Stine is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle without valid inspection, and a seat belt violation.
3:19 p.m. Monday — Keith E. Daugherty, 52, of Slippery Rock was arrested for allegedly violating a protection from abuse order on the prior weekend. Daugherty is accused of a violation occurring May 18 when he went into Express Care on South Board Street and made contact with his juvenile son. He was placed in the Mercer County Jail on a charge of criminal contempt.
10:56 a.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Lenora L. Vantine, 75, of Sarver struck a Kenworth truck while pulling out of the intersection at Winfield and Cornplanter roads in Winfield Township. Larry A. Keefer, 47, of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, was the other driver. No one was injured. Police cited Vantine for a stop sign violation.9:29 p.m. Monday — An SUV driven by Abigail E. Wolfe, 37, of Grove City struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. She was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.1:28 p.m. Monday — Speed and an unsecured load caused a Virginia trucker to lose control of his rig on I-79 in Lancaster Township. Police said Terron T. Cooper, 39, of Franklin was southbound when his load — a 39,000-pound piston — shifted on a flatbed trailer.The piston and trailer broke free and rolled onto the highway. Cooper's Kenworth truck crashed into the guardrail and overturned on its driver's side on top of the guardrail. Cooper and a passenger, a 35-year-old Virginia man, were not injured. Both were wearing seat belts. Police cited Cooper for driving too fast for conditions, disregarding traffic lanes, failing to secure his load, and causing an accident involving an overturned vehicle.12:27 p.m. Monday — A car driven by a 17-year-old Evans City girl rear-ended a pickup truck on Route 68 just east of Buhl Road in Forward Township. The accident occurred when the teenager apparently took her eyes of the road to answer a phone call. Neither the girl, whom police did not identify, nor the other driver, Melissa S. Burkett, 28, of Evans City, was injured. Both were wearing seat belts. Police said they cited the girl for following too closely to another vehicle.4:13 p.m. May 19 — A car driven by Susan L. Ross, 63, of Erie struck a guardrail on I-79 in Muddy Creek Township. The car had to be towed.3 a.m. May 19 — An unidentified vehicle struck a gas meter outside a home on Whitestown Road near Eagle Mill Road in Connoquenessing Township. Police said it appeared the unknown driver damaged the meter backing out of the home's driveway and drove away.12:25 p.m. May 18 — A 17-year-old Butler boy was not injured when a front tire blew out on a car he was driving on North Duffy Road just west of Harley Lane in Center Township. The car struck a ditch, and the tire landed across the road. Police did not identify the boy, who was wearing a seat belt. The car had to be towed.8:35 a.m. May 18 — Abigail R. Rumbaugh, 21, of Butler was injured in a two-car crash on Route 356 at Fisher Road in Jefferson Township. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Police said Rumbaugh pulled her car into the path of the other car driven by Joseph H. Day, 82, of Butler. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Both vehicles had to be towed. Rumbaugh was cited for a stop sign violation.May 16 — Adam J. Snow, 21, of Summit Township was charged with drunken driving in connection with a one-vehicle wreck last month in Summit Township. Police said he rolled his car April 19 on the 500 block of Bonniebrook Road. The car landed on its wheels. Snow told police that he had been drinking earlier in the day, according to court documents. A trooper allegedly noticed that he had a beer can shoved into one of his boots. He allegedly later failed field sobriety tests. Police took him to the barracks for a breath test that allegedly showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.129 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. Snow is charged with driving under the influence, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving and not wearing a seat belt.May 16 — A Grove City teenager was charged with having marijuana stemming from a January incident in West Sunbury. Police said they came upon the defendant, 18-year-old Trenton M. Snow, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of a car wash on the 100 block of Main Street. The driver, a woman, told police that she did not have a spare tire and that she and Snow were waiting for a tow. A trooper smelled marijuana coming from the car, according to court documents, and Snow subsequently handed over a cigar containing suspected marijuana. Police said he also admitted to having a bag of marijuana in the glove box. In all, documents said, the seized marijuana weighed 13 grams. Snow is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.6:55 a.m. May 12 — No one was injured in a hit-and-run crash on O'Hara Road in Jefferson Township. Police said the wreck occurred when Kevin D. Kidd, 21, of Worthington, Armstrong County, lost control of his car while traveling a left-hand curve and struck a ditch.Kidd was cited for failing to immediately notify police of an accident, abandoning a vehicle on a road, driving at an unsafe speed and driving on the wrong side of the road.5:43 p.m. May 12 — A Westmoreland County teenager was injured when he lost control of his car, struck an embankment and rolled over several times on Victory Road in Clinton Township. Marcus C. Township, 18, of Vandergrift, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police cited him for driving at an unsafe speed and a seat belt violation.5:34 a.m. May 12 — A car driven by a Beaver County man rolled several times after traveling off I-79 west of Lindsay Road in Jackson Township. Brayden G. Rice, 30, of Fombell, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with a minor injury.Police cited Rice for driving too fast for conditions.
