12:32 p.m. Saturday — Sarah S. Schoeffel, 38, of New Castle was caught with suspected crack cocaine on the 400 block of West Penn Street.

Police said they found Schoeffel coming out of a house while responding to several calls of suspected drug activity. She was subsequently searched, according to a police report, and found with two rocks of suspected crack.

She also had a used syringe, two crack pipes, two spoons with suspected drug residue, and other contraband.

Schoeffel is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Thursday — Michele L. Wardle, 29, of Butler was arraigned on charges she illegally tried to buy a rifle last year at Dick’s Sporting Goods at the Greenwood Plaza.

Police said Wardle allegedly provided false information on a federal form that was required Sept. 14 when she attempted to buy a Savage Arms Axis XP .243-caliber Winchester bolt-action rifle.

When her information was entered into the Pennsylvania Instant Check system, an automated system by which gun dealers can determine if someone can legally buy a gun in the state, she was denied the purchase.

Wardle was arraigned on charges of unlawfully attempting to buy a firearm, a felony, and unsworn falsification to authorities, a misdemeanor. She remains free on her own recognizance.

Monday — Curtis L. Philips, 49, of Oakland Township was charged with being more than twice the state’s legal limit for alcohol stemming from a traffic incident last month in Oakland Township.

Police said that about 5:15 p.m. Feb. 19 they got a suspicious vehicle call on Beulah Road. The caller reported that an unknown car was traveling up and down the road. It eventually stopped, according to court documents, and the driver appeared to be sleeping at the wheel.

The vehicle was gone when police arrived but a trooper later found it stopped on Beulah Road. Philips was identified, police said, and he seemed confused. He showed impairment during field sobriety testing and was taken for a breath test.

His blood-alcohol level was found to be 0.221 percent. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.

Philips is charged with driving the under the influence and careless driving.

5:28 p.m. Saturday — Amanda G. Foran, 33, of Summit Township was arrested for DUI following a one-vehicle wreck at North Benbrook Road and Sunset Drive in Center Township.

Police said Foran’s car ended in a ditch. She told investigators that she lost control of the vehicle while trying to turn around, according to court documents.

She subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.206 percent.

Foran is charged with DUI, driving without insurance and disregarding traffic lanes.

Thursday — Robert A. Weckerly, 45, of Parker was charged in connection with a shoplifting incident last year in Center Township.

Police allege Weckerly shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sept. 22 took three metal 55-gallon burn barrels from the back of the Rural King store at the Clearview Mall. An employee saw the theft and got a description of the suspect and the pickup truck he used in the getaway.

Store surveillance video provided police with the license plate number, court documents said.

Police eventually spoke to Weckerly’s wife, who admitted that she was with her husband that day but she insisted that they paid for the barrels.

The investigating trooper, however, advised her that the store had no record of sale that day for the burn barrels, documents said.

Robert Weckerly is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

Feb. 16 — A Beaver County man was charged with drugged driving stemming from a December traffic stop on East Water Street in Slippery Rock.

Police said they pulled over the defendant, Ryan D. Connell, 23, of Monaca about 4 a.m. Dec. 2 after he ran a stop sign saw and his car’s passenger side tires rode along the white fog line. He showed signs of impairment during field sobriety testing and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.

Toxicology results showed he had marijuana and the anti-anxiety medication alprazolam in his system, according to court documents.

In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Connell is charged with driving with a suspended license, driving without a license, careless driving and a stop sign violation.

Feb. 16 — Police charged a Warren County man with drunken driving in connection with a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.

A trooper spoke to Steven M. Beres, 26, of Warren in the back of an ambulance at the scene of the rollover wreck about 11:15 p.m. Jan. 18. Beres admitted he had been drinking that night, according to court documents.

He was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township for treatment of injuries in the crash. A blood draw also was taken. A toxicology report showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.135 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered under state law.

Beres is charged with driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lanes, driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt.

[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]

8:15 p.m. Friday — Dennis Patterson, 61, of Cabot was arrested for driving under the influence at Route 422 west and Glade Run Road in East Franklin Township.

Patterson is charged with driving under the influence, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
