Robert W. Boykin

Robert W. Boykin, 76, of Zelienople passed away Wednesday at UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township of multiple organ failure. He had been ill for some time.

He was born March 12, 1941, in Rochester, N.Y., to Agnes and Banks Boykin, who are both deceased.

Bob received his B.A. and M.A. in Latin, French and Greek from St. Michael's College of the University of Toronto and a PhD. in French and comparative literature from the University of Rochester.

After teaching French for a brief time, he spent over 40 years in financial services with AXA Equitable.

He was a certified life underwriter, chartered financial planner and member of the Equitable Hall of Fame.

Bob loved gardening, travel, opera and classical music.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen, of 45 years; his brother, Richard Boykin; and his niece and nephew, Ginette Fertel and David Boykin, and their spouses and children.

BOYKIN — Friends of Robert W. Boykin, who died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, at Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church in Zelienople.Interment will take place in Sidney, Ohio, later.Memorials may be made to the University of St. Michael's College, 81 St. Mary's St., Toronto, ON, Canada M5S 1J4.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
