A Philadelphia man charged alongside three others following a seven-hour standoff with police in December 2016 was released Thursday on time served.

Janeal Armstrong, 33, was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in Butler County Prison by Judge William Shaffer, and was granted immediate parole on time served.

He was also ordered to pay court costs and a $75 fine.

Shaffer allowed Armstrong's supervision to be transferred to Philadelphia.

Armstrong previously pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of marijuana on Jan. 22.

The charges stem from an incident at a home on the 400 block of Franklin Street, where Butler police say three men, Joseph J. Bell, 24, of Pittsburgh; and Michael L. Jackson, 25, and Kenneth T. Henry, 40, both of Philadelphia, were accused of breaking into the home of Lisa Bishop and holding a gun under her chin while demanding to know the whereabouts of “Ginger.”

After police were called the men fled to an upstairs apartment.

During a seven-hour standoff between the men and a Special Weapons and Tactics team from Allegheny County, Armstrong was found hiding in an alcove behind the home. Police said he was carrying 31 stamp bags of suspected heroin, two plastic bags containing suspected crack cocaine, three bags of suspected marijuana and $700 in cash.

The stand off ended after the tear gas was launched into the building, with the three men found hiding in an attic above 430 Franklin St., which shares the space with Bishop's home at 428 Franklin St.

Jackson later pleaded in the case and was released from county detention on time served.

Bell and Henry continue to be held awaiting further court proceedings on charges of burglary, conspiracy, assault and gun charges.
