Wednesday — Roy A. Jackson, 67, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a hit-and-run crash in November on Fairview Avenue.
Police allege Jackson’s car about 7 p.m. Nov. 12 struck a pickup truck that was parked on the road. He got out of the car and fled, according to court documents.
An officer checked the area and spotted a man, identified as the defendant, behind a convenience store on Center Avenue matching the description of the suspect seen leaving the car. The key to the car was in his pocket.
Jackson was taken to the station for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.112 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
In addition to driving under the influence and hit-and-run, he is charged with careless driving.
Monday — Police charged Nathan R. Milligan, 31, of Butler with having heroin stemming from a loud music complaint in November in the 400 block of Spruce Street.
An officer found Milligan about 11 p.m. Nov. 10 “hunched over “ in a car with music blaring from inside the vehicle, according to court documents. The officer had to knock on the window several times to get the defendant’s attention.
Milligan, who appeared impaired, told police that he had taken Neurontin, a prescription drug used in the treatment of epilepsy and nerve pain.
When he got out of the vehicle, documents said, police noticed what appeared to be a stamp bag of heroin on the center console. In all, police seized four stamp bags of suspected heroin from the car.
Milligan is charged with possession of a controlled substance and public drunkenness.
Monday — Bernard Bush, 34, no known address, was charged with having drug contraband Oct. 21 when he was arrested on an out-of-state warrant at an apartment in the 400 block of North Washington Street.
Police said they found Bush with a pipe containing suspected cocaine residue and a wooden push rod in his pants pocket. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant out of Detroit.
7:25 a.m. Nov. 17 — Cars driven by Diane L. Sheehan, 59, of Butler and Brandy L. Spohn, 35, of Butler Township collided at Morton and Cottage Hill avenues. Police cited Sheehan for careless driving.
5:53 p.m. Nov. 16 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Kathryn L. Bowser, 67, of Butler and a car driven by Tiffany P. Dean, 42, of Brady Township collided at West New Castle and North Chestnut streets. A 7-year-old child riding in Dean’s car and wearing a seat belt suffered an apparent minor injury.
Police cited Bowser for a stop sign violation.
[naviga:h3]Buffalo Township Police[/naviga:h3]
Nov. 13 — A man and woman were arrested after they allegedly stole a man’s 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Jack’s Trailer Court on Park Drive.
Sterling Shaw, 23, of Duquesne, Allegheny County, and Paula Lowry, 51, who lives at the trailer park were each arraigned on a felony charge of theft. Sterling also is charged with driving with a suspended license.
The defendants were released on $6,000 unsecured bail each following arraignment.
[naviga:h3]Butler Township Police[/naviga:h3]
Wednesday — Percy B. Guilky, 49, and Christopher C. Pickering, 34, both of Butler were charged in connection with a Nov. 21 fraudulent return scheme totaling $79.97 at the Butler Commons’ Walmart.
Both men are charged with misdemeanor counts of theft by deception and conspiracy.
[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]
8:40 a.m. Tuesday — Two students landed in trouble with the law after getting into a fight at the Grove City High School. No injuries were reported in the fight in the cafeteria. The students, both boys, ages 15 and 16, were each cited for disorderly conduct.
[naviga:h3]Penn Township Police[/naviga:h3]
Tuesday — Jacqueline Highton, 41, of Winfield Township was charged with failing to return a Chevrolet Silverado that the owner, a Middle Trail resident, had loaned her in May. The owner told police that he had called and texted Highton since June, asking her for his truck back. On Sept. 22, Adams Township Police spotted the truck and stopped Highton driving it. Highton is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
[naviga:h3]State Park Rangers[/naviga:h3]
Nov. 22 — An Allegheny County teenager was charged with having marijuana and painkillers without a prescription in September at Moraine State Park in Brady Township.
A ranger for the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources found Jonah M. Winfield, 18, of Bethel Park about 9:45 p.m. Sept. 2 in a vehicle parked at the end of Barkley Road in violation of park regulations.
The teen admitted that he had marijuana, according to court documents. He handed over two pill containers that contained suspected marijuana and a marijuana cigarette. A search of the vehicle turned up a plastic baggie containing 26 hydrocodone pills and an unopened can of Four Loko, an energy drink that is 12 percent alcohol
Winfield is charged with possession of a controlled substance and a small amount of marijuana, underage possession of alcohol and two park violations.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Butler[/naviga:h3]
Monday — Police charged a Fayette County man with being more than double the legal limit for alcohol Nov. 5 when he nearly struck a trooper’s patrol car in Slippery Rock.
Casey A. Henry, 23, of Dawson narrowly missed hitting the driver’s door of cruiser while pulling out of the Sheetz store parking lot on Franklin Road, according to court documents.
Henry submitted to a portable breath test device that indicated he had alcohol in his system. Police subsequently took him to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.173 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Henry is charged with driving under the influence and failing to yield the right of way.
Monday — An Indiana County woman was charged with drunken driving in connection with a traffic stop in November on Route 8 near Route 173 in Brady Township. Marah C. Pierce, 24, of Indiana was pulled over about 10:20 p.m. Nov. 17 after her car crossed the white fog line at least twice, according to court documents.
Pierce told police that she was coming from the New Castle area where she had dinner with a friend. She showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, documents said, and tested positive for alcohol on a portable breath test device.
Police took Pierce to the Slippery Rock University police station for a formal breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.109 percent. level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
Pierce is charged with DUI, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
1:51 a.m. Saturday — Justin L. Herp, 39, of Butler was arrested for DUI in Franklin Township after police said his Hummer failed to stay within its lane on Route 422 near Bennett Drive. Herp failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.226 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.
In addition to DUI, he is charged with disregarding traffic lane, failing to keep right and careless driving
