10:30 p.m. Thursday — Doris A. Ross, 57, of Butler Township was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on West New Castle Street. Police said they stopped her following a 911 call reporting that a vehicle had struck a utility pole “on New Castle Road coming into the city.”
Ross was subsequently taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Charges are pending toxicology results. No other information was available.
2:20 a.m. Tuesday — Matthew D. Friday, 30, of Butler was arrested after allegedly biting the right hand of his live-in girlfriend, Angelique Thompson, during a domestic dispute while the couple was in a vehicle on Federal Street.
Police said the woman suffered an unspecified injury to her hand. The defendant, according to court documents, admitted he bit the victim.
Friday was arraigned on a charge of simple assault, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.

1:11 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Hannah D. Thompson, 19, of Butler rear-ended a sport utility vehicle at Moraine Pointe Plaza. She said the accident happened when a perfume bottle rolled under the brake pedal, preventing her from stopping in time, according to a police report.
Neither Thompson nor the other driver, Debra Wright, 60, of Harmony, were injured but the teen’s car had to be towed. Police cited Thompson for careless driving.
Thursday — Lorrie R. Kooser, 59, of Butler was charged with taking money from her register while employed at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. Police said store surveillance video showed the defendant on 17 different occasions between August and September taking a combined $340. Kooser is charged with 17 misdemeanor counts of theft.

1:15 a.m. Thursday — Veronica R. Saeler, 37, of Oakland Township was arrested for drugged driving in the 300 block of Chicora Road in Oakland Township. Police said they initially stopped her for going 10 miles over the 35 mph speed limit.
Saeler denied that she had been drinking or using drugs. But after failing a field sobriety testing, according to court documents, she admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that day. She was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test.
Saeler was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding and careless driving. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail following arraignment.
Oct. 20 — Police charged Gwendolyn E. Warner, 60, of Slippery Rock with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol following a near wreck with a trooper’s cruiser last month in a store parking lot.
Police said Warner drove toward the officer’s patrol car about 12:25 a.m. Aug. 9 in the Sheetz parking lot, according to court documents, before she stopped her vehicle about one foot from the cruiser’s front bumper.
She said she only had two beers that night but police suspected she was too impaired to perform field sobriety tests. She was taken to Grove City Medical Center for a blood test. Toxicology results showed her showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.192 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. In addition to driving under the influence, Warner is charged with careless driving.
Oct. 20 — Elizabeth O’Rourke, 37, of Butler was charged with drunken and drugged driving stemming from a traffic incident last month on Route 8 near Route 528 in Brady Township. Police said they came upon her car about 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 24, pulled off the road without its hazard lights on.
O’Rourke, who admitted to having consumed alcohol according to court documents, later was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test.
While securing the car police found what appeared to be marijuana on the driver’s side floor and a marijuana pipe in the center console. A further search turned up a plastic container with suspected marijuana in it.
Police took O’Rourke to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.126 percent and she had marijuana in her system.
She is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, and separate counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She also was cited for careless driving and not using hazard lights when required.
Oct. 20 — Jacob R. Kothe, 27, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken driving in connection with a hit-and-run crash last month in Worth Township. Police allege he failed to stop at about 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 22, when his pickup truck struck a car on Interstate 79.
The other driver provided police with the pickup’s license plate number, which was used to help identify Kothe according to court documents. Police went to his home and found his pickup, which had fresh damage and its engine was still warm.
The defendant admitted he had returned within the past 30 minutes after drinking with friends. He failed a field sobriety test and a portable breath test device indicated he had alcohol in his system,
A formal breath test at the Slippery Rock University police station showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.141 percent.
Kothe is charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
1:12 a.m. Oct. 14 — Chad E. Hulings, 45, of Slippery Rock was arrested for DUI after he crossed the double yellow line and white fog line multiple times on New Castle Road in Slippery Rock Township.
He subsequently failed field sobriety tests, according to court documents, and told police, “You got me.” A trooper also noted he found a half empty bottle of beer in the defendant’s pickup truck.
Hulings’ was taken for a breath test that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.101 percent.
In addition to DUI, he is charged with careless driving, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and driving with an open container of alcohol.
[naviga:h3]State Police, Kittanning[/naviga:h3]
5:45 a.m. Tuesday — Devin R. Haley, 23, of Petrolia was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in Sugarcreek Township. He was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries.
Police said the crash happened when Haley momentarily fell asleep and lost control of his car on Route 268. The car drifted into the opposing lane and struck a Mack semi-truck. The other driver, Charles E. Carrigan Jr., 48, of New Kensington, was not hurt.
6 p.m. Oct. 20 — A Cambria County man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Route 28 north in North Buffalo Township. Charges are pending lab tests.
1 a.m. Oct. 20 — Police arrested a Kittanning woman for suspected DUI after they spotted her going the wrong way in North Buffalo Township. Police stopped the 51-year-old woman, who they did not identify, on Route 422 near Route 28. Charges are pending lab tests.
2:45 p.m. Oct. 19 — A Texas man was hurt when he ran his motorcycle into the back of a sport utility vehicle on Route 268 in East Franklin Township. Michael Miller, 61, of Whiteboro, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to ACMH Hospital with unknown injuries.
The other driver, Douglas C. Wonderling, 18, of Kittanning, was not hurt.
