10:28 p.m. Wednesday — Jeremy L. Schmidt, 40, of Butler was arrested on a bench warrant after police found him stumbling down the sidewalk on West Jefferson Street.
Schmidt was later placed in Butler County Prison on the warrant. Court records showed the warrant was issued Sept. 12, after Schmidt failed to appear for a court hearing in a felony access fraud case.
6:28 p.m. Wednesday — A large tent caught fire at Clay Hills, a wooded area on private property frequented by homeless people. The Butler Fire Department put out the fire and no one was hurt.
A passer-by earlier had called 911 to report seeing from Kaufman Drive a large fire in the woods, according to a police report. No other information was immediately available.
11:55 p.m. Tuesday — Adam M. Williams, 37, of Butler suffered an apparent overdose at a home on Belmont Road. A 911 call reported that he was unconscious but breathing.
By the time police got there, Williams had regained consciousness. Police said they found a syringe and an empty stamp bag of suspected heroin in the home. He admitted using one bag of heroin, according to police report.

Thursday — Joseph B. Torres, 47, of Butler was charged with shoplifting from his employer, the Walmart at Butler Commons, earlier this year. Police allege that on four separate occasion between June and July Torres took seven items totaling $45.55. Torres is charged with four summary counts of retail theft.

6:39 p.m. Sunday — Brent Henry, 44, of Valencia was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed into a utility pole guide wire on Meridian Road. Charges are pending results of a blood test, police said.
2 a.m. Sunday — Tracy Desanti, 53, of Renfrew was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his Jeep over an embankment on Three Degree Road.
A breath test showed Desanti’s blood-alcohol level was 0.20 percent, according to a police report. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

Thursday — Police reported they are investigating a case of burglary and vandalism between Oct. 14 and 19 at a home on Lardintown Road in Clinton Township.
Someone broke into a garage at the home and spray painted the interior, causing an estimated $100 in damage. Later, the back of a vehicle at the home was spray painted, causing an estimated $1,000 in damage.
A police report did not indicate if there are any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.
10:33 p.m. Tuesday — Neither out-of-county driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 8 at Route 308, just south of the Sheetz store in Center Township.
Police identified the drivers as Jordan A. Helmantoler, 22, of Monessen, Westmoreland County, and Rebecca M. Doverspike, 55, of Franklin, Venango County. Police cited Helmantoler for driving at an unsafe speed.
6:02 p.m. Tuesday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Taylor M. Hood, 21, of Farrell, Mercer County, rear-ended a pickup truck on East Cooper Street just west of Highland Avenue in Slippery Rock.
The other driver, Michael T. Stugan, 22, of Pittsburgh, was stopping to let a passenger out when the crash happened. No one was injured but the SUV had to be towed.
Police cited Hood for driving at an unsafe speed.
Monday — Police charged a Virginia woman with having marijuana after an August traffic stop in Franklin Township. Betty E. Chimera, 35, of Woodbridge was stopped for speeding at 2:22 p.m. Aug. 28 on Route 422 near Route 528.
A trooper smelled burned marijuana coming from Chimera’s sport utility vehicle, according to court documents, and she admitted smoking the drug the previous morning before attending a wedding. She also acknowledged having marijuana in her back pack that was in the SUV.
A search of the pack turned up a plastic bag with suspected marijuana, a marijuana pipe and grinder, and other drug contraband.
Chimera is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, speeding and a seat belt violation.
Oct. 20 — James D. Schmidt, 47, of Sarver was charged with stealing firewood earlier this month from a business on the 900 block of New Castle Road in Franklin Township. He allegedly took the property, valued at $500, on Oct. 1.
Schmidt is charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft.
Oct. 20 — Police charged an Armstrong County woman with being more than twice the legal limit for alcohol following an August traffic stop in Brady Township. Abbey V. Smith, 21, of Ford City was stopped about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 25 after she failed to stop at a stop sign at Route 173 and Route 8.
Smith failed field sobriety testing and she tested positive for alcohol on a portable breath test device. She was taken for a formal breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level at 0.194 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
She is charged with driving under the influence, careless driving, disregarding traffic lanes and a stop sign violation.
Oct. 20 — Sharron L. Moreland-Jones, 24, of Slippery Rock was charged with drunken and drugged driving in connection with a traffic stop this month in Slippery Rock. She was pulled over about 2:25 a.m. Oct. 1 on Franklin Street, police said, for having a burned-out head lamp.
Moreland-Jones was searched after she failed field sobriety tests and was found with medication for which she did not have a prescription, marijuana and other drug contraband, according to court documents.
She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology reports showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.106 percent and she had marijuana and amphetamine in her system.
Moreland-Jones is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, and separate counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
She also was cited for a lighting violation, careless driving and failing to notify authorities of a change of address.

Monday — Police reported they are investigating a sexual assault filed by a 33-year-old East Brady man. Authorities said the man claimed he was assaulted between the ages of 1 and 4 at unknown locations in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
No other information was released.

2:30 p.m. Wednesday — Two PennDOT workers were hurt in a multivehicle wreck on Route 28 north about one-half mile south of exit 18 in South Buffalo Township.
The crash happened when Wami Osmanm, no age or address given, failed to stop before hitting the rear of a PennDOT vehicle that was there for a work project. The impact forced the PennDOT vehicle into more parked PennDOT vehicles.
Two PennDOT workers were treated for minor injuries suffered in the wreck. Police did not identify the workers. The investigation continues, according to a police report.

Monday — Police reported they are investigating the theft of a green Future Beach kayak from a home on the 200 block of Shingle Hollow Road in Perry Township, Lawrence County. The theft happened between 7 and 9 p.m. Oct. 10.
