Wednesday — Nicholas A. Cook, 23, of Butler was charged with having illegal prescription painkillers in connection with an incident earlier this month on Johnson Street.
Police were called about 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 for an unconscious man slouched over the center console of a vehicle with the driver’s door open, and found Cook.
Officers noticed a plastic bag hanging out of the defendant’s pocket. The bag contained two unknown pills. The officers awakened Cook, who was “delirious and confused,” according to court documents.
Police later found inside the original bag a second bag, which had five pills in it. Those pill were subsequently identified as hydrocodone. The two pills in the first bag were identified as oxycodone.
Cook is charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
11:44 a.m. Tuesday — A 32-year-old Butler woman suffered an apparent heroin overdose at a home on Third Street. A police report was incomplete and the woman’s name was not immediately available.
A 911 caller reported finding the woman unresponsive on the bathroom floor. A Butler Ambulance Service crew administered the opioid antidote Narcan, which revived the victim.
Rescuers said the woman admitted using heroin and authorities found unspecified drug paraphernalia in her purse. She refused further medical treatment.
10:12 p.m. Saturday — Mark E. Boyle, 27, of Butler was allegedly caught with suspected marijuana and other contraband after police were called for a man and woman arguing in a vehicle on the 300 block of North McKean Street.
Police said they noticed a backpack, which belonged to Boyle, in the vehicle. He acknowledged there was “just a little bit of weed” in it, according to court documents.
A search of the backpack turned up a Mason jar containing suspected marijuana, as well as rolling papers.
Boyle is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

8:55 a.m. Wednesday — A police officer turned into “bat man” during an unusual call to a home on the 200 block of Edgewood Road. The homeowner reported a bat in the house.
Police got there and eventually took care of the winged intruder, opening a door and allowing it to fly away.
1:18 p.m. Tuesday — No one was injured when a Beaver County man’s tractor-trailer jackknifed on Route 8 south near Coolidge Street. Police said Raymond L. Raye Jr., 35, of Aliquippa faces tickets for driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, and driving with worn tires.
2:54 p.m. Sunday — John D. Vedilago, 40, of Butler allegedly failed to scan several items, valued at $115.24, while using a self-checkout register at the Butler Commons’ Walmart. Police said he later returned some of the items in exchange for an in-house gift card.
Vedilago is charged with theft by deception and retail theft.

12:45 p.m. Tuesday — A 27-year-old Cabot woman was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after police found her in a vehicle parked on the side of Route 28 north in Buffalo Township.
Police did not identify the woman or her passenger, a 24-year-old Butler man, who both were found with suspected drug paraphernalia. The woman also was found with a small amount of suspected marijuana.
Charges are pending lab results, according to a police report. The man was arrested on a bench warrant.
Tuesday — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Fred R. Blumling, 42, of Lyndora on charges he stole his friend’s debit card and used it last month to make $487.50 in unauthorized withdrawals.
The victim told police that Blumling knew the card’s personal information number but did not have permission to use it July 24 — twice at the ATM at the Lyndora Hotel and once at the ATM at the Super 8 motel in Butler Township, according to court documents.
Police said the surveillance video at the Lyndora Hotel helped identify Blumling as the suspect.
He is charged with three counts of access device fraud and one count each of theft by unlawful taking, identity theft and receiving stolen property, all misdemeanors.
Aug. 16 — Police charged Earl R. Dally, 58, with filing a false report in connection with a police call in June at his home on Holly Road in Donegal Township.
Troopers were called about 12:05 p.m. June 30 to the defendant’s house for a reported domestic dispute. Dally accused his girlfriend of hitting his hand with a knife.
But on July 10, according to court documents, he showed up at the barracks and admitted that the incident “was fabricated and it did not occur.” He provided a written statement acknowledging that he falsely implicated his girlfriend.
Dally is charged with false reports to law enforcement authorities and disorderly conduct.
Aug. 15 — Police charged an Indiana County woman with being more than three times the legal limit for alcohol in April when she caused a two-vehicle crash in Clearfield Township.
Jesse R. Coyle, 25, of Indiana failed field sobriety testing after the wreck about 8 p.m. April 17 at Route 422 and County Line Road.
Coyle was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed her blood alcohol level was 0.260 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.
She is charged with DUI, disobeying traffic control devices, driving too fast for conditions and careless driving.
4:44 a.m. Aug. 9 — A 52-year-old Rimersburg man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of DUI following a one-vehicle crash on the 1800 block of Kittanning Pike in Parker Township.

10 p.m. Monday — A used syringe was found in the baby changing area at the McDonald’s restaurant at the Franklin Village shopping plaza in East Franklin Township. Police said they have no suspects in the investigation.

7:13 p.m. Aug. 16 — A man and woman, both from out of county, were arrested after they allegedly shoplifted merchandise at five stores — American Eagle, Old Navy, Justice, Nike and Adidas — at Premium Outlets in Springfield Township.
Harry M. Burrie, 56, of Carmichaels, Greene County and Raylean D. King, 48, of Washington, Pa. were both arraigned on charges and later released on $2,500 bail each.
Burrie is charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and receiving stolen property. King is charged with a felony count of retail theft and a misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property.
