2:47 p.m. Sunday — A woman and a man holding a meat cleaver, both wanted on warrants, were arrested after they were found hiding at a home where they did not belong.
The suspects — 29-year-old Joshua M. Crispin, 29, and 40-year-old Christina M. Cloherty — were placed in Butler County Prison following their arrests. Neither defendant has an address known to police.
Police said they were called to the 300 block of East Brady Street for a report of two people trespassing at a house. Yellow caution tape was stretched across the pillars on the front porch and the city code enforcement office had previously posted a “No Trespassing” sign on the front door.
Officers knocked on the door and noticed two people inside “attempting to conceal themselves from police,” according to court documents.
A short time later, police stopped Cloherty as she tried to run out the back door. But still inside the house was Crispin, who was holding a large knife that police described as a “meat cleaver,.”
He did not immediately drop the knife when officers told him to do so, documents said. He eventually let go of the knife but police said they had to grab his arm and take him to the ground.
A check of the National Crime Information Center database, police said, showed that Crispin was wanted by state parole authorities. City police also had their own arrest warrant for him in connection with a two-month-old robbery.
In that earlier case, Crispin is accused of pilfering a woman’s wallet and punching a man who tried to stop him April 9 at an apartment on North Washington Street.
Police, meanwhile, said they also learned that Cloherty had a bench warrant out for her.
Both defendants were arraigned on charges of flight to avoid apprehension or prosecution and defiant trespass. Crispin also is charged with resisting arrest.
Crispin also was arraigned on robbery, theft and other charges in the earlier case. He is in the county prison on $15,000 bail. Cloherty is being held on $5,000 bail and also on the warrant.

Police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. Leon, according to court documents, acknowledged he had marijuana in a bag. An officer looked in the bag and found a cylinder container with suspected marijuana in it.
He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and driving an unregistered vehicle.
1:32 a.m. Saturday — Duran H. Madison, 19, of Butler was caught with suspected marijuana and other contraband after he was pulled over for having no driver’s side taillight on Hansen Avenue in Lyndora.
Police smelled a “strong odor of cologne” when they got to the car, according to court documents. Madison admitted he had marijuana and a marijuana pipe in a book bag on the back seat.
A consent search of the bag, documents said, turned up a bottle containing suspected marijuana, a digital scale, marijuana pipe and grinder.
Madison is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and a lighting violation.

She recounted that Beitch threatened to kill her and their infant son. He also began to “punch himself in the face and throw items around” in the house, according to court documents.
The defendant also warned that he would kill himself once police arrived. He was arrested without incident and no injuries were reported.

Troopers suspected Caccamo was impaired and he subsequently failed field sobriety tests and a drug recognition expert’s evaluation, according to court documents.
Police said they noticed in the vehicle center console a container with what appeared to be residue of THC wax.
Caccamo was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which showed he had marijuana in his system.
In addition to driving under the influence of a controlled substance, he is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, improper display of a license plate and failing to notify authorities of a change of address.
