7:36 a.m. May 15 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Tammy J. Delano, 48, of Center Township struck another SUV at North Washington and West Penn streets. Richard J. Bosco, 44, of Fenelton was the other driver.

Delano blamed the sun in her eyes for her failing to see the other vehicle, according to a police report. No one was hurt but Bosco’s vehicle had to be towed.

3:02 p.m. May 6 — SUVs driven by Keith L. Beabout, 48, of Petrolia and Joan C. Davenport, 58, of Butler Township collided at East Cunningham and South McKean streets.

No one was injured but Davenport’s SUV had to be towed. Police cited Beabout for failing to stop at a red light.

Wednesday — Police charged James W. Gray III, 43, of Lyndora with being more than three times the legal limit for alcohol following a traffic stop last month on New Castle Road.

An officer about 2:20 a.m. April 30 saw Gray’s vehicle cross over the fog line and double yellow line and pulled him over at the Looney Toones parking lot.

Police said the defendant had a “strong odor” of alcohol, according to court documents, and he appeared impaired. He admitted having four beers that night.

Gray was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.244 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

In addition to driving under the influence, Gray is charged with disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and disregarding a caution signal.

Tuesday — Andrew T. Heim, 47, of Pittsburgh was charged with taking another person’s truck without the owner’s permission Jan. 10 and driving it to a Harrisville nursing home. He took the truck in Mercer Township.

The owner subsequently confronted Heim, who apologized for taking the vehicle, according to court documents. He claimed he needed it for personal business.

He is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.

May 15 — Bernard A. Rozic, 72, of Connoquenessing Township was charged with driving under the influence in connection with a March traffic stop in Clay Township. Troopers stopped Rozic on March 26 on Route 8 near the Playthings Etc. store after they saw his car weaving in the northbound lane.

Police smelled alcohol in the car and the defendant admitted he had been drinking that evening, according to court documents. He had a difficult time standing when he got out of the car.

Rozic was subsequently taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.101 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.

He is charged with DUI, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

9:39 p.m. May 14 — A Beaver County man was arrested for suspected drunken driving after a wrong-way, hit-and-run crash on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.

Police suspect Joseph T. Burger, 36, of Baden was traveling south in the northbound lanes when he hit the other vehicle that was getting off the interstate at exit 105, according to court documents.

Troopers were called for the wreck and soon spotted Burger driving a sport utility vehicle that had struck another vehicle that had been exiting the interstate.

Police noticed a container of alcohol in the center console after stopping the SUV. They said Burger also reeked of alcohol and showed signs of being intoxicated.

He was taken for a blood test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.267 percent, more than three times the legal limit.

Burger was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence and two counts of reckless endangerment, hit-and-run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, failing to notify police immediately after an accident and driving with an open container of alcohol.

He also is charged with driving the wrong way on a one-way road, disregarding traffic lanes, improperly exiting or entering a highway, careless driving and reckless driving.

Burger was released on $25,000 unsecured bail following arraignment.

2:04 a.m. May 11 — Jasmine G. Thompson, 20, of Pittsburgh was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in Slippery Rock. Police said they pulled her over on Grove City Road near East Water Street for having a brake light that was not working.

Troopers smelled alcohol on Thompson’s breath and she appeared impaired, according to court documents. She was eventually taken for a breath test that showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.115 percent.

She also is charged with DUI by a minor, driving without a license, careless driving and the lighting violation.
