7:32 p.m. Saturday — Jason P. Parks, 47, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his 15-year-old daughter during a domestic dispute at their home in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue.Police said the girl had minor injuries to her head and face. The defendant claimed those injuries were self-inflicted, according to a police report. She was taken to Butler Memorial HospitalParks was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.11:29 p.m. Friday — John D. Winkler, 54, of Highland, Mich., was arrested for suspected drunken driving after police saw his pickup truck traveling on North Main Street near Brady Street with neither its headlights or taillights on.At the intersection, the suspect stopped at a red light. But when the light changed to green, Winkler remained there for a “period of time,” according to court documents. Police eventually stopped him at North Main and Walnut streets.Police said they smelled a “strong odor” of alcohol coming from him and he appeared intoxicated. He admitted having two beers. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a breath test, which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.182 percent, documents said.A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.Police in court papers noted that this is Winkler's fourth DUI within the past 10 years. He has one prior conviction each in Michigan, Alabama and Louisiana. His Michigan driving record also showed he has no license.Winkler was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license and a lighting violation. He was placed in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail following arraignment.Thursday — Joshua M. McBride, 25, no known address, was arrested on charges he forged five checks belonging to his uncle. The alleged victim told police that the checks were taken earlier this month from his home in the 300 block of South Monroe Street.Two of the checks were cashed. The victim was able to stop the other checks before money was taken out of his bank account, according to court documents.The defendant is accused of convincing an acquaintance to cash or attempt to cash the checks for him, because he had no identification. The acquaintance, who is not charged, was apparently unaware of McBride's scheme.The five checks were written for a total of $1,011, documents said.McBride was arraigned on five felony counts of forgery and a misdemeanor count of theft by deception.<h3>Butler Twp Police</h3>Monday — Police charged two Butler men with teaming up in a case of suspected shoplifting earlier this month at Ollie's Bargain Outlet at Moraine Pointe Plaza. The suspects — Nicholas A. DeMartini IV, 26, and Benjamin L. Thomas, 23 — are each charged with retail theft and conspiracy, both misdemeanors.DeMartini about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 2 was caught allegedly pushing a shopping cart full of merchandise out the entrance door that Thomas opened by activating the motion sensor, according to a police report.A store employee confronted the men, who fled to a vehicle in making their getaway.Monday — Daniella R. Fredericks, 23, of Slippery Rock was charged with shoplifting in connection with a Dec. 4 incident at the Walmart at Butler Commons. She is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.2:09 Sunday — Brian A. Kennedy, 22, of Evans City was allegedly caught in a suspected false return scheme at the Butler Commons' Walmart. Police said he attempted to return three 100-foot extension cords that he had taken, and not paid for, from the hardware section.The cords are valued at $167.33. Kennedy is charged with a misdemeanor count of theft by deception.<h3>Butler County Detectives</h3>Friday — Butler County Prison inmate Charles W. Burgess Jr., 23, of Butler was arraigned on a felony charge for allegedly spitting in the face of a correctional officer during a disturbance in his cell Jan. 17.Guards confronted Burgess for being disruptive in his cell, including repeatedly kicking his door. When two officers tried to remove him, he resisted, according to court documents. He eventually spit saliva in one of the guard's faces.County detectives on Jan. 24 charged the defendant with aggravated harassment by a prisoner. His bail in the case was set at $25,000.Burgess has been in the prison since Oct. 21, having first served a sentence for robbery, officials said. While jailed, documents said, he was charged with falsely accusing two other inmates Nov. 28 of forcing him to perform sex acts on them.In that incident, he is charged with unsworn falsification to authorities and false reports to law enforcement authorities. That case is still pending in court.3:35 p.m. Thursday — A Butler County Prison inmate allegedly broke off a sprinkler head, allowing his cell to flood with water. The suspect, Shane M. Ammerman, 21, of Lamar, Clinton County, later admitted committing the vandalism, according to court documents.Authorities said after the sprinkler head was severed, the water to the prison's fire suppression system had to be shut off, “causing the entire system to be inoperable,” documents said, thereby placing all inmates and employees in danger.The vandalism caused $203.97 in damage.Ammerman is charged with institutional vandalism and reckless endangerment, both misdemeanors.He has been in the Butler County Prison since Dec. 7, where he is serving a sentence stemming from a September conviction for possession of drug paraphernalia in Clinton County, according to prison officials and court records.<h3>State Police, Butler</h3>Monday — Michael P. Kominsky, 27, of Butler was charged with allegedly shoplifting a Shark brand vacuum cleaner from the Boscov's store last month at Clearview Mall in Center Township. The cleaner, valued at $200, was taken about 7:15 p.m. Dec. 21.Kominsky was arraigned on a misdemeanor count of retail theft, and released on his own recognizance.Thursday — Someone used spray paint to vandalize Spring Valley Park on Victory Road in Clinton Township. The numbers “420” and what is believed to be a marijuana plant were painted on the back wall of the rest room building.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.<h3>State Police, Mercer</h3>8:35 a.m. Jan. 19 — Three people were hurt when a car driven by Trisha L. Ayers, 21, of Grove City struck another vehicle at Hunter and Kilgore roads in Worth Township, Mercer County. Betty J. Bowmer, 86, of Stoneboro was the other driver.Both drivers and a passenger in Bowmer's car were treated at Grove City Medical Center for minor injuries. Police cited Ayers for a stop sign violation.
