Butler Police,/b>7:41 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Kayla T. Ball, 27, of West Sunbury and a pickup truck driven by David E. McLaughlin, 53, of Center Township collided on Zeigler Avenue near Heim Avenue. No one was injured but both vehicles had to be towed.2:24 p.m. Tuesday — Police said a car driven by Kerren A. Morra, 22, of Butler pulled out of the 7-Eleven parking lot and collided with a sport utility vehicle on Hansen Avenue. Shirley R. Young, 50, of Cabot was the other driver.Butler Twp PoliceMonday — Police charged Mark W. Edwards Jr., 31, of Butler, in connection with an employee theft at the Days Inn on Route 8 south. He is charged with forgery and two counts of theft.Dec. 30 — Jonathan R. Shuler, 29, of Butler was charged with stealing a woman’s purse and shoplifting merchandise, valued at about $163, at the Walmart at Butler Commons Dec. 20. Shuler is charged with theft by unlawful taking and retail theft.2:25 p.m. Dec. 29 — Police said Aaron T. Thompson, 25, of Butler entered a garage on Homewood Drive despite being repeatedly warned that he was not permitted there. Police charged him with trespass.11:24 a.m. Dec. 27 — Police said Madalyn L. Como, 19, of Butler allegedly used a suspected fake identification card at the Fine Wine and Good Spirits store at Moraine Pointe Plaza. She is charged with underage possession of alcohol, carrying false identification and misrepresenting her age to secure liquor.Grove City Police10:55 p.m. Tuesday — James C. Dicks, 71, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Terrace Avenue. Police said he also was cited for careless driving.Tuesday — An alert borough police officer who happened to be in Mercer on an administrative detail arrested a man on a warrant. Patrolman Chris Taggart recognized Norman N. Pyle, 62, of Mercer, and nabbed the wanted man.Pyle at the time had a bench warrant out for him stemming from a 2012 case for public drunkenness. He was subsequently placed in Mercer County Jail on the warrant.Dec. 30 — Police charged Ronald A. Scurti, 50, of Youngstown, Ohio, with passing a bogus check Nov. 23 at Joden World Resources on South Broad Street.Scurti is charged with bad checks, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.2:50 p.m. Dec. 29 — Tamie M. Yard, 37, of Grove City was arrested on a warrant following a traffic stop in the borough. The arrest warrant was issued to state police in connection with a Dec. 10 theft in East Lackawannock Township.Yard was arraigned on charges of theft and receiving stolen property, and placed in Mercer County Jail. She was released after posting $2,500 bail.Borough police also cited her for driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance, stemming from the traffic stop.Dec. 28 — Noah E. Hazy, 20, of Grove City was arrested after he allegedly violated a 20-year-old borough woman’s protection from abuse order on Christmas Day.Hazy was arraigned on a charge of indirect criminal contempt and released on his own recognizance.State Police, ButlerTuesday — Cody J. Beitch, 20, of Oakland Township was arrested on charges he stole a handgun Dec. 31 from his aunt’s house on Davis Road in Oakland Township.Beitch admitted he took the .380-caliber pistol, according to court document, and led police to the woods behind his house where he hid it. Police recovered the gun.He was arraigned on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property, and placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.9 p.m. Saturday — Jason A. McWilliams, 27, of Slippery Rock landed in trouble with the law stemming from an altercation with a Butler female on Sutton Lane in Clay Township. Police charged McWilliams with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. He also was cited for public drunkenness.Dec. 30 — Cindy L. Hufnagel, 58, of Connoquenessing Township was charged with drunken driving stemming from a suspected hit-and-run crash Nov. 1 in Center Township.Police said Hufnagel was traveling east on the 900 block of Mercer Road about 8:45 p.m. when her pickup truck crossed the double-yellow lines and hit a westbound vehicle. No injuries were reported.The defendant did not stop despite her losing one front tire in the wreck. She continued driving “with one rim and no tire on it sparking down (Route 356) near the Dick’s Sporting Goods,” according to court documents.Police eventually found the truck and Hufnagel, who smelled of alcohol. A breath test subsequently showed her blood-alcohol level at 0.182 percent, documents said, more than twice the state’s 0.08 percent legal limit.She is charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run, failing to stop and give information or render aid after an accident, disobeying traffic control devices, driving on the wrong side of the road, crossing into opposing traffic and hitting another vehicle, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and reckless driving.Dec. 24 — Velma E. Weckerly, 41, was arrested after she allegedly hurled a curling iron at her husband, Brian Weckerly, during a domestic dispute at their home on Route 38 in Washington Township.The victim was hit in the head by the metal iron, according to court documents, and suffered a bleeding wound. She admitted throwing the curling iron, police said, but only after he cursed at her.Weckerly was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and later released on her own recognizance.State Police, Clarion4:20 a.m. Sunday — A 29-year-old Sligo man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed his vehicle into a pile of large stones on Huey Road in Toby Township. The suspect’s vehicle had to be towed.State Police, FranklinWednesday — An unknown thief stole a log hauler trailer that was in the Kenworth of Pennsylvania parking lot on Route 308 in Clinton Township, Venango County. The black, 2001 Pitts model trailer, owned by a 52-year-old Harrisville man, contained 32 trusses.The theft happened between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 814-676-6596.State Police, Kittanning9:46 a.m. Monday — Four unknown hunters with beagles trespassed through the woods of a 41-year-old man’s property on Kaylor Petrolia Road in Sugarcreek Township. The owner told police that a similar incident happened about two months earlier. He believed the suspects arrived there in three vehicles, a black Acura, a white pickup truck and a blue pickup.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-543-2011.6:16 a.m. Dec. 29 — Aaron S. Campbell, 45, of Ford City lost control of his pickup truck, striking and shearing off a utility pole along Mushroom Farm Road near Milligan Road in West Franklin Township.Dec. 19 — Police charged Alex R. Rainey, 18, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, in connection with a vehicle crash in South Buffalo Township.While investigating the wreck at 2:31 p.m. Dec. 12 on Route 28 south about two miles south of Exit 18, police found suspected drug contraband. Rainey is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.4:45 p.m. Dec. 17 — Damion E. Pounds, 26, of Kittanning was caught allegedly shoplifting $610 worth of video games at the Hilltop Plaza Walmart in East Franklin Township. He is charged with misdemeanor counts of retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.State Police, Mercer9:46 a.m. Thursday — Eric M. Perrone, 26, of Hadley was arrested after an altercation at an apartment on Everbreeze Drive in Perry Township, Mercer County.Perrone was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of harassment. He was placed in Mercer County Jail on $15,000 bail following arraignment.A police report said charges of harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia are pending against two others in connection with the incident.Tuesday — An unknown thief stole between 50 and 60 gallons of home heating oil from the back of a 50-year-old man’s home on the 1300 block of West Main Street Extension in Pine Township, Mercer County. The theft happened between Dec. 8 and Tuesday.Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.State Police, PunxsutawneyWednesday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Table 86 by Hines Ward in Seven Fields for allegedly violating the state liquor law between Oct. 10 and 27 by failing to have its board-approved manager complete a Responsible Alcohol Management Program.An administrative law judge will hear the case.
