Butler PoliceSunday — Police charged Pamela S. Kuhrt, 53, of Butler with bouncing a $1,440 check earlier this year. The check was written May 14 as rent payment for her apartment in the 300 block of Broad Street.The check, however, was returned and showed it was written on an account with insufficient funds, court documents said. Kuhrt is charged with bad checks.Saturday — Andrew J. Wick, 24, of Lyndora was charged in connection with a suspected drug overdose last month at Pullman Square.Police on Nov. 25 were called to the shopping plaza for a report of a man passed out in the parking lot. Officers found Wick lying on the ground. He appeared to be impaired, according to court documents, and had no idea where he was or how he got there.A medical crew examined the suspect and found symptoms of an overdose, police said. He was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment.Officers near where they found Wick recovered a bag belonging to him. Inside, documents said, was a suspected marijuana pipe. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.During their investigation, police also said they learned that Wick was wanted on a bench warrant.
Buffalo Twp PoliceDec. 15 — Police accused a New Castle couple in connection with a suspected fraudulent return scheme earlier this fall at a hardware store. Gary M. Morini, 51, and Anita M. Morini, 50, are both charged in the case.Gary Morini on Aug. 24 and Sept. 24 is accused of returning packs of lithium batteries to the Sarver True Value on Route 356 for a combined refund of $203.36, according to court documents. Police said it was later determined that Morini did not purchase the items from that store.Both defendants on Sept. 26 went to the same store and tried to return items for a refund. The store refused that return after realizing the items were not purchased there.Gary Morini is charged with theft by deception, attempted theft by deception and conspiracy to commit theft by deception. Anita M. Morini is charged with attempted theft by deception and conspiracy to commit theft by deception.
Butler Twp Police8:53 p.m. Tuesday — A vehicle driven by David Facemire, 41, of Saxonburg crashed and rolled over on Old Plank Road. He was not hurt but his vehicle had to be towed.3:25 p.m. Monday — Vehicles driven by Martha M. Geibel, 87, and Randy Schuller, 38, both of Butler collided on Route 8 north near the Wonder Wash. Both vehicles had to be towed.Police cited Geibel for making an improper left turn.
State Police, ButlerWednesday — An unknown vandal damaged a mailbox and light pole at a 56-year-old woman’s home in the 1300 block of West Park Road in Worth Township. The vandalism happened between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday.Monday — Police charged Sean M. Malloy, 23, of Slippery Rock and Samuel K. Brehm, 27, of Wexford in connection with the Nov. 18 theft of a woman’s cell phone at the Ginger Hill Tavern on South Main Street in Slippery Rock.Malloy is suspected of taking the phone, which he later gave to Brehm, according to court documents. But Brehm told police that he didn’t keep it for long.“(He) stated that he began to fear that he would get into trouble,” a police affidavit said, “so he threw the cell phone out of the window near his residence.”The phone was later recovered.Malloy is charged with theft. Brehm is charged with receiving stolen property.8:27 p.m. Sunday — An Armstrong County man was arrested on charges he spit at one trooper and charged at another during an altercation at a woman’s home on Iron Bridge Road in Winfield Township.Brian L. Rosenberger, 24, of Kittanning, who faces felony assault and other charges, is being held in the Butler County Prison on $2,500 bail.Police said they were called to Jessica Hooks’ home where she reported that the defendant had showed up intoxicated and was refusing to leave.Two troopers got there and tried to get Rosenberger to leave. But the defendant got angry, according to court documents, and kicked a decoration off the coffee table. He charged Trooper Joseph Titler, who took the suspect to the ground.Rosenberger continued to resist as he was taken to the patrol car, police said. He kicked the car and fell down. When he was eventually placed in the car, he allegedly spit at Trooper Jessica Clouse, hitting her in the right hand.The troopers placed a spit mask over Rosenberger’s head to prevent him for spitting any more, documents said.At the barracks, he is accused of kicking and damaging a room heater. Additionally, he was found with a suspected drug-smoking pipe.Rosenberger was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, trespass, criminal mischief, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.Dec. 13 — A woman was charged with a firearms violation after she showed up at a Forward Township addiction treatment facility with a gun and without a concealed carry license.The suspect, Heidi M. Scolari, 37, of Forward Township, on Dec. 2 checked herself into Silvermist Recovery, according to court documents. An employee while inspecting her bags found a handgun, placed it in a safe and notified police.Scolari told police that she didn’t know the gun was in her purse, documents said. She is charged with a carrying a firearm without a permit.State Police, Kittanning1:47 a.m. Wednesday — Jeffery E. Piper, no age given, of Sarver lost control of his sport utility vehicle and struck a guardrail on Route 28 north in Harrison Township, Allegheny County. No one was injured but the vehicle had to be towed.State Police, New Castle10:51 a.m. Saturday — Desiree J. Sirois, 40, of Harmony lost control of her pickup truck and struck a tree along slush-covered Route 108 just east of Macajo Lane in Scott Township, Lawrence County. Police cited her for driving too fast for conditions.
