Butler Police12:42 p.m. Sunday — Lois A. Daniels, 26, no known address, was arrested after she apparently passed out on drugs at the Donut Connection on Center Avenue.Police were already looking for Daniels in connection with a welfare check when an employee at the doughnut shop called to report the suspect was there. Officers found her slumped over a booth with her head laying on the table, according to documents.Police finally awakened Daniels. She was arrested for public intoxication and searched. Police said they found her with eight pills of the prescription drug gabapentin, which is primarily used to treat seizures and pain.Additionally, the search turned up a crack pipe, documents said.Daniels was arraigned on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. She was later released on her own recognizance.3:49 p.m. Wednesday — Joseph G. Daye, 44, of Butler was caught with suspected heroin after he was arrested on a bench warrant during a traffic stop at North McKean and East Penn streets.Police said Daye was a passenger in the vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation. On the floor of his seat, court documents said, were two stamp bags of suspected heroin. He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
Butler Twp Police6:57 p.m. Saturday — Brittney L. Yartz, 23, of Lyndora was arrested after she allegedly assaulted a man during an altercation on Kohler Avenue. The victim suffered a minor injury. Yartz is charged with simple assault and harassment.2:42 p.m. Dec. 6 — No one was hurt in a three-vehicle wreck at Whitestown and South Duffy roads. The crash happened when a car driven by Billy Joe Abrams, 35, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle driven by Wilson Pineda-Jara, 30, of Verona, Allegheny County.Pineda-Jara’s vehicle, in turn, was forced into the back of a vehicle driven by Susan Adams, 72, of Butler. Adams’ vehicle had to be towed. Butler Volunteer Fire District 3 assisted with traffic control.Police cited Abrams for following too closely to another vehicle.
Cranberry Twp Police7:20 p.m. Thursday — Police arrested a 74-year-old woman after she allegedly cut her husband with a knife during a domestic dispute at their Cambridge Court home.Chae Masumoto, 74, was arraigned on two counts of simple assault and released on her own recognizance.Dave Masumoto told police that his wife had been drinking and they were arguing while she was doing the dishes.During the argument, she allegedly held a knife toward him. The victim cut two of his fingers while trying to get the knife away from his wife, police said.The defendant told police that her husband struck her in the head with a beer bottle first, although a Cranberry Township EMS crew checked her and found no signs of being struck.
Slippery Rock University PoliceWednesday — Police charged Kaylee Gallagher, 20, of Milford, Pike County, with smoking marijuana Dec. 2 in her room at North Hall on the Slippery Rock University campus.A community assistant at the student housing facility notified police after smelling marijuana coming form the room. The officer said that when he got there, he smelled the same thing.Gallagher, when confronted, admitted to smoking marijuana “a little bit ago,” a police affidavit said. The officer in her room later found a Mason jar with several suspected marijuana buds in it. She also turned over a marijuana grinder, police said.Gallagher is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Butler County Sheriff’s Office3:30 p.m. Dec. 5 — Brandon E. Loughman, 27, was arrested on a bench warrant at his home in the 300 block of West Diamond Street in Butler. A search found him with eight stamp bags of suspected heroin and a drug inhaling tube, court documents said.He is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
State Police, Butler7 a.m. Monday — Linda L. Rodgers, 56, of Butler was hurt when she lost control of her sport utility while attempting to pass another vehicle and struck an embankment on Route 422 just west of Carob Center Road in Summit Township. The SUV overturned in the wreck.Rodgers, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Police said she faces a ticket for driving too fast for conditions.1:30 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Brittany L. Gould, 25, of Butler struck the side of a trailer being towed by another vehicle on Route 68 just south of Grant Avenue Extension in Oakland Township. No one was injured but Gould’s car had to be towed.Police said they cited Gould for driving too fast for conditions. Brandon A. Bianco, 26, of Butler was the other driver.Dec. 5 — Jared A. Heckman, 31, of Stoneboro, Mercer County, was charged with drunken driving stemming from a Dec. 2 traffic stop on Interstate 79 in Worth Township.Police said they stopped Heckman’s car about 11 p.m. after they noticed it weaving in and out of its southbound lane. When the trooper approached the suspect, he admitted to having had “a couple of beers,” court documents said.He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and taken for a breath test which showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.138 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, Heckman is charged with disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.
State Police, Clarion4:48 p.m. Saturday — One person was apparently hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in northern Butler County. The crash happened when Dylan P. Curtis, 19, of O’Fallon, Ill., lost control of his car on Interstate 80 in Allegheny Township.The car spun out, according to a police report, and was struck by another car driven by Noah A. Napolitano, 30, of Litchfield, Conn.Curtis’ passenger, Stephanie J. Gwiazda, 19, of Parma, Ohio, suffered an unknown injury that did not require hospital treatment. She was not wearing a seat belt. Both drivers were both wearing seat belts.Police cited Curtis for driving too fast for conditions and careless driving. Napolitano also was cited for driving too fast for conditions and driving too closely to another vehicle.
State Police, Kittanning6:09 p.m. Saturday — Cody N. Damore, 25, of Leechburg was caught allegedly shoplifting $382 in merchandise at the Hilltop Plaza Walmart in East Franklin Township. He was stopped with the items loaded in a shopping cart. Damore is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.3:23 p.m. Friday — An Indiana County woman was caught illegally possessing a gun after she was arrested for driving under the influence on Belmont Street in East Franklin Township.The suspect, Megan A. Syster, 28, of Penn Run is charged with carrying a fireman without a concealed carry license, DUI, careless driving and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.
State Police, New Castle8:50 a.m. Monday — Joni R. Shreffler, 37, of Slippery Rock lost control of her car and struck a guide wire to a utility pole along Patton Road just east of Devil’s Elbow Road in Hickory Township.A police report noted that at the time of the wreck the road was covered in slush. Police cited Shreffler for driving too fast for conditions.
