Thursday — Scott W. Braden Jr., 34, of Meadville, Crawford County was arrested on charges stemming from the cashing of stolen checks earlier this year.

Police suspect Braden convinced a second victim, a man he knew, to cash other stolen checks at a bank in the city, according to court documents. The defendant told the other victim that the checks belonged to his mother and he did not have a bank account.
The second victim, police said, cashed five checks totaling $1,802. He was unaware of Braden’s alleged theft scheme.
