Butler PoliceWednesday — Rastis O. Marcy, 38, of Center Township was charged with swiping clothes from a car parked on North Main Street last month.Police said while on patrol about 7 p.m. Sept. 27, an officer spotted Marcy expose his underwear while changing from a pair of shorts to a pair of jeans in front of a number of people seated on a bench in front at a nearby restaurant.The officer, after stopping to speak to Marcy, noticed a cell phone charger on the sidewalk next to a car. Police later accused him of stealing from that car the phone charger and the jeans he had donned, according to court documents.He is charged with theft from a vehicle and disorderly conduct.

State Police, ButlerSunday — Police reported they are continuing to investigate the theft of a piece of excavating equipment behind a garage in Worth Township earlier this month.The white, orange and black, 2003 Bobcat B300 backhoe loader was taken between 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Oct. 7 on New Castle Road just east of Route 19. Police noted that the backhoe was included in an estate inherited by the victim, a 63-year-old Portersville man.Police said they have no suspects.Saturday — No foul play is suspected in the death of a 54-year-old woman at her home on Meadow Valley Drive in Center Township. A family member found the woman’s body. Police believe she died between 12:45 and 4:30 p.m.Friday — An unknown litterer between 4:30 and 5 a.m. scattered rubbish outside a 25-year-old woman’s home on McEwen Lane in Cherry Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Oct. 6 — Police filed misdemeanor drug charges against a Westmoreland County woman caught last month with marijuana in Summit Township.The suspect, Jasmine L. Cook, 26, of New Kensington, was a passenger in a van that was spotted about 2:10 a.m. Sept. 3 parked in a parking lot at a business in the 300 block of Bonniebrook Road that was closed.Police approached the vehicle and smelled a “strong odor” of marijuana coming from it, according to court documents. Cook admitted that she had marijuana, which was stashed in a small baggie and inside a cigar pouch. The seized marijuana weighed 1.5 grams.She is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police also cited her for disorderly conduct, for being in the van with suspected drugs outside a closed business.

State Police, Clarion10:35 a.m. Saturday — Kyle J. Root, 26, of Emlenton lost control of his car and crashed into a guardrail and utility pole in Emlenton. Police said Root was northbound on Route 38 when his car traveled off the road and went airborne after hitting the guardrail.The vehicle slammed into the pole and dropped down about 50 feet over an embankment, according to a police report. The car ended up against a tree. Root, who was not wearing a seat belt, was not injured.Police cited Root for driving at an unsafe speed, disregarding traffic lanes and a seat belt violation.The Emlenton Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.

State Police, FranklinTuesday — Police charged a Michigan man with misdemeanor drug possession after he was allegedly caught with marijuana during a traffic stop about 8:40 p.m. April 18 on Interstate 80 in Irwin Township.The suspect, Isaiah West, 23, of Auburn Hills, is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

State Police, Kittanning2:18 Saturday — A 49-year-old Butler man, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 422 and Glade Run Road in East Franklin Township.1:20 a.m. Saturday — A 35-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 66 in Manor Township. Police did not identify the suspect, who was from Saltsburg, Indiana County.4:02 p.m. Thursday — David C. Lawecki, 22, of Freeport allegedly used a pair of bolt cutters to cut the lock off a gated area at the Tractor Supply store at the Franklin Village Mall in East Franklin Township. Police said Lawecki is charged with criminal mischief.11:15 a.m. Thursday — A dropped book was blamed for a crash in South Buffalo Township.The driver, Joseph A. Simonetti, 64, of Natrona Heights, Allegheny County, was headed north on Route 28 when he took his eyes off the road while reaching down to the floorboard to retrieve the book he dropped, according to a police report.Simonetti’s car traveled off the west side of the road and started to slide, leaving 75 feet of skid marks, as he tried to regain control of it. The vehicle spun around two times and traveled off the east side of the road, this time leaving nearly 170 feet of skid marks.Police said the car continued up an embankment before hitting a traffic sign. Simonetti, who was not hurt, was cited for careless driving.5:15 a.m. Wednesday — A van driven by Jonathan D. Kliniewski, 34, of Taylor, Lackawanna County, struck a deer on Route 422 just east of Pony Farm Road in North Buffalo Township. Neither Kliniewski nor a passenger was hurt, but the van had to be towed.

State Police, Mercer8:30 p.m. Oct. 3 — Derek S. Cameron, 19, of Slippery Rock and Jessika R. Cadwell, 19, of Grove City allegedly shoplifted several items from the Kwik Fill store on Leesburg Grove City Road in Springfield Township.The suspects are accused of taking food, beverages and sunglasses. Cameron and Cadwell are both charged with retail theft.
