Butler Police12:20 a.m. Tuesday — Heather L. Clemons, 38, was arrested after she allegedly assaulted 39-year-old Bryan Byers of Butler during an apparent child custody dispute at her home on Lyon Avenue.Police said Byers had gone to Clemons’ home to pick up the son he shares with the defendant when the two got into an argument. Clemons is accused of punching Byers in the face several times. He suffered a cut lip.Clemons was arraigned on a charge of simple assault and released on her own recognizance.Tuesday — Steven S. Defelice Jr., 31, of Lyndora was arrested on charges stemming from a suspected shoplifting incident Sept. 14 at the Pullman Square shopping plaza. He also was arrested on a bench warrant in connection with an unrelated shoplifting case in Butler Township.City police said an employee at the Kmart store spotted Defelice take a box of latex gloves and hide them in his pants. Alexandra M. Reeher, 27, of Butler, who was with Defelice, is accused of stealing bras and other women’s underwear and concealing them in a shoe box.The pair walked out of the store with the items, according to court documents, and drove away. Store surveillance video helped police trace the getaway car to Defelice.Butler Township police later stopped the defendant’s car during a traffic stop on Pierce Avenue. Both suspects were in the car and they admitted to taking the merchandise at Kmart, documents said. They turned over the items but not before Reeher allegedly gave police a bogus name.Defelice was placed in Butler County Prison on the bench warrant that was issued last month after he failed to appear for a court hearing on charges he shoplifted $109 worth of Legos from the Walmart at Butler Commons in June.He was later arraigned on the latest charges, including retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft, both misdemeanors. He is free on $2,500 bail.Reeher is charged with retail theft and false identification to law enforcement authorities, both misdemeanors.

Butler Twp PoliceTuesday — William G. Kamerer III, 43, of Butler was charged with drunken driving stemming from a car crash about 4:30 p.m. Sept. 19 on New Castle Road. Kamerer is charged with driving under the influence, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, careless driving and following too closely to another vehicle.11:38 p.m. Sunday — A motorcycle driven by Justin O’Donnell, 28, of Butler struck a guardrail while rounding a bend on Whitestown Road at Fairground Hill Road. O’Donnell was not injured.12:09 p.m. Sunday — Michelle Voelker, 39, of Butler lost control of her car, which struck a guardrail and traveled about 250 feet over an embankment on Delwood Road. The vehicle ended on its driver’s side. No injures were reported.1:02 a.m. Sunday — The driver of a minivan fled the scene of a crash on Saxonburg Road near Bullcreek Road. The crash remains under investigation and a police report did not indicate if the suspected driver has been identified.The driver was traveling south when the Chevrolet Venture went off the road and struck and sheared off a utility pole. Police said the driver left, leaving the van behind.11:32 p.m. Friday — Jarrod L. Shoaf, 34, of Chicora suffered an apparent drug overdose in a bathroom at the Butler Memorial Hospital emergency room. The opioid antidote Narcan was used to revive him, according to a police report.Shoaf is charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and public drunkenness.

State Police, ButlerTuesday — Police reported that the fire marshal’s unit is investigating a blaze last week that damaged a home in Portersville. No one was injured in the fire about 11 a.m. Friday at the home of Terri Raisley on Alben Road.A deputy fire marshal said the blaze started in the attic of the two-story house but there was no immediate cause. The Portersville-Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department and other local companies helped put out the fire.Damage was estimated at $50,000. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Thursday — Police charged a Butler Township teenager with drunken driving stemming from a rollover wreck in August in Center Township. The suspect, 18-year-old Hayden M. Kretzer, suffered apparent minor injuries in the crash.Kretzer lost control of his pickup truck shortly before 11 a.m. Aug. 6 and rolled over on Mercer Road. Paramedics were already tending to the teen when police got there. A trooper smelled alcohol coming from Kretzer, who admitted drinking the prior night, according to court documents.He also admitted he was using his cell phone when he crashed.Kretzer was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of injuries and a blood draw. Toxicology results showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.133 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, he is charged with underage drinking, texting while driving, disregarding traffic lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road driving at an unsafe speed and not wearing a seat belt.

State Police, Kittanning8:50 a.m. Monday — Elizabeth R. Stewart, 27, of Worthington was hurt in a two-vehicle wreck in West Franklin Township. She was treated at ACMH Hospital in East Franklin Township for minor injuries.The crash happened, according to a police report, when a van driven by Robert S. Nemchek, 35, of Kittanning ran a red light at Route 422 and Claypoole Road and struck the sport utility vehicle that Stewart was driving. Police said Nemchek was cited for the red light violation.8:40 p.m. Sunday — Two people were badly hurt in a suspected drunken driving rollover crash in West Franklin Township. Casey M. Harkleroad, 19, of Worthington and Jacob M. Petras, 21, of Kittanning were both taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with serious injuries.Police said Petras lost control of his pickup truck on Worthington Slate Lick Road just south of Yellow Dog Road. The truck flipped onto its driver’s side before rolling over several times and ending on its roof in a corn field.Neither Petras nor Harkleroad, a front-seat passenger, were wearing seat belts. Their conditions were not known this morning.According to a police report, driving under the influence charges against Petras are pending lab results.

State Police, PunxsutawneyOct. 5 — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Lernerville Speedway on Route 356 in Buffalo Township for allegedly violating the state liquor law Aug. 5 by allegedly serving alcohol to a minor.An administrative law judge will hear the case.
